I was just re-watching tonight the last episode of Top Gear's 16th season. Richard Hammond drives the Porsche 959 and the Ferrari F40, and I thought he had an interesting conclusion that I hadn't noticed before. He says:

"Before the F40 and the 959, you had Countach's and Testarossa's and in supercar evolutionary terms they were like man first making it into space. With the F40 and 959, it was man first walking on the moon."

Obviously a well deserved tribute to the magnificent F40 and 959, but also quite a prime spot for the Lambo and the Testarossa...

I really hope someday TG will feature the TR.

Kinda reminds us of an old phrase we use about women......"So many..and so little time". The TR , Countach will always be close to the heart for many of us. Todays cars just only fuel the passion more! They just keep getting better!!!

YouTube is probably your best shot. You won't really have everything like the news and the guest's lap, but most reviews.

If the TR ever makes it to TG, I wonder how positive/negative they would be. Clarkson in the 550 Maranello review called the TR "mad" in terms of design (in a positive way), but also said it was "a dog"... The Fifth Gear team could not hide their disappointment when the TR was voted favorite Ferrari in the UK...

I don't think they were disappoint by your car, Phil, the TR in general :)

Boy did I drool on you car for a few years before buying my own TR... I saw that little fifth gear sequence many many many time! Pink Floyd and a TR, what can go better together?? Oh wait, no, "in the air tonight" and a TR go better... :)

But I'm I over your car now, I have my own. :)

Some great sounds there, although the TR with the stripes sounds a little quiet. That stretch of road looks ace. Is it always that quiet?

I think Jeremy said, during a review of his F355 purchase, 'The Testarossa was a dog and the Mondial looks like it's dinner' while singing the praises of a car that does absolutely nothing from me - not to take anything from the F355, it's fine, it just doesn't do it for ME.

Then Jeremy needs to remove his head from his butt. The TR is head and antlers above the 355. I like the car but......there is NOTHING like a flat 12!!!! Performance that makes your heart go very very fast!!!! I think he does not know how to drive one if he is comparing a 355 to a TR. The TR once mastered is an absolute blast to put through its paces!!!

I think the reason why Clarkson dislikes the testarossa is because from what I understand the 84 - 90 TR is just a modified and rebodied 365BB/512BB boxer. a car he's a huge fan of as he stated on the program a few years ago so he may have resented the fact that ferrari turned his favorite ferrari into the TR in 84' which if your not a fan of the 80's wedge designs and the boxy bumpers of the TR and the 328 would seem like heresy to someone the likes of him (and he has stated he thinks the 308 is one of the best looking ferrari's ever made supporting my theoy for the most part)

and honestly I'm not too much of a fan of the testarossa's front bumper either (although unlike him I do save for the front bumper really like the TR) and I kind of wish they had found a middle ground between the bumper of the 512BB and the testarossa rather than having those two protruding lips on the front that make the nose seem overly boxy to me. plus the matt black spoilers which I think would have looked a hell of alot better painted a semi or full gloss black.

plus maybe making the stokes if thats what there called over the air intakes less pronounced and more recessed.

anyways he also seemed to be purely planted in the daytona camp when it came to that preference of what was better, the daytona or the testarossa on MV so its not like he's a V12 hater and the D was one of his top picks about 8 years ago along with the old aston martin virage

I think it was in the top 5 if I remember correctly.

although he does and has only owned that F40 for the past 10 years to my knowledge while he got rid of the F355 and a few others so he probably is for the most part a V8 fan.
