As the thread name states, I took the new-to-me 2022 F8 spider to the track, after the first 20 min session I ended up getting all those errors (E-DIFF, F1-Trac, Manettino) as well as a weird whine from the engine when car was off.

Let it rest for a bit, then went for another 10 min session and was hit with this again. Speed limited to 55kmh so called it a day.

Went to get some food, let the car rest for two hours, and then set off home. Errors reappeared two minutes into the drive, ended up going home at 55khm/h on a highway with hazard lights on.

A bit disappointing first experience on the track. Any ideas?

These cars are sold with the implication/pretense that you can track them. I don't think they're really up to the task. Maybe something light (a few laps) at best. I think Ferrari knows most people won't track them. Ferrari track consumables will shred through your cash faster than a Vegas casino.

Agree. Could be as simple as a bad battery. The alternator isn’t necessarily running on track as it can get turned off by the computer to conserve power. So if your battery isn’t in great condition it can lead to electrical issues. Note the car may crank and start at voltages below what makes all systems in the car happy.

Charged the battery all night, no errors in the morning, drove to gas station about 10 mins away, upon restarting the engine all errors came back and a 55kmh drive of shame back home ensued (120kmh limit road)

Not sure how battery can be so broken if the car is relatively new (2022)

It sounds like the car may have exceeded some of it's component temperature parameters and gone into 'safe' mode.

What was the ambient temperature like on the day and how hard on the car was the track in terms of braking and accelerating

Standard P Zero tyres, I set them to 30/29. The temperatures were pretty high on the track, saw 90C+ on the tyres. I didn't push non stop, this happened after 20 mins of driving.

Christ, that’s a brutal reply. I got the car less than a month ago, full service record, clean VIN, warranty and service contract. You’re implying I was sold a lemon?

No, he’s just being Eric. Which means your car will be fine… get it to the dealer and can’t wait to find out what is happening.., I’m sure it’s no big deal.

Mostly likely it is a battery going bad.

I’ve already had to replace the battery in my 2022 Portofino. My dealer put an aftermarket battery in, which is their standard policy because the Ferrari OEM batteries are so awful.

You don't say where you or the track are located. The whole country has been experiencing ultra hot days over about the past week. 90C tires translate to almost 200F. 100 degrees F typical ambient translates to over 210 degrees on the track.

My theory is that a number of under hood components got overheated and threw the odd codes. Sounds like it is going to take a dealer to reset them after investigating the components.

It's not funny. It's not cute. And you've had enough warnings not to be abrasive towards new members.

Send your apology to the admin email provided and I'll consider readmitting you. Indefinite ban applied.

LONG overdue....the cat can't change his stripes as we have seen here MANY times....the forum is better off with a perma ban.

Absolutely ridiculous… pure and obvious humor and banned for it. Grow up people. Talk, chat, say whatever you want, find it funny or don’t but stop policing peoples’ personalities. What’s the matter with this sensitive world?

Mostly agree with that - only counterpoint is that a rookie not familiar with Mr Eric may not have the background to understand. Still, some explanation would be better than a ban IMHO.

Back to the problem at hand.

I had this issue. Turned out to be a blown fuse. I believe #A40 or something. I posted about it. It took them a long time and cost me $350 to diagnose that and change the fuse. Also changing the battery (not just charging it) was done and those two things helped.

Eric has had explanations on previous occasions. He's run out of leeway. We take a very dim view on making new members feel unwelcome.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

ya, that's why I immediately responded and explained-- simple logic, I'm sure the 'new guy' wouldn't have had his life spin out of control over the comment even if I didn't respond so quickly.
