Is it possible to get a Toll Tag without having to attach that hideous box to my windshield?...T

    Box?

It's a sticker, containing a reactive transponder (or something like that). I've never attached it, but just lay it on the dash when I'm traveling on toll roads.

Don't have one, so to me it looks like a contraption. A tag that I don't have to permanently attach would be great. Thank you...T

+1 -- but I leave the peelable release liner in place and use a couple of piece of blue painters tape to hold it up on the windshield (behind the rear view mirror so I don't see it).

actually, you don't need to put it on your car at all.. The program is set up that if it does not read your tag, It looks thru a database to see if your LP is in there as a user, if it is, then it just debits your account as usual.

Its that or just take your LP completely off and go thru it for free with no recourse what so ever.. Which is what most of the illegals do anyways... Toll authority does not care one bit wither... the money coming in is to easy for them to worry about the little bit they aint getting..

This is what I used to do but then started getting bills in the mail. The system no longer read my plate and then confirm I have a tolltag account, and therefore charge me the tolltag rate. Instead, it charged me the regular rate and I had to call to have my bill adjusted.

So now I put the tolltag back on the windshield but underneath the registration sticker, and out of sight. Every year I get a new sticker I call the NTTA for new velcros and do the same thing again

You need the sticker or they bill you by mail at a higher price. No more box.

If you use a front license plate, they offer a bracket with Toll Tag built in. I had to put front plate on my MB after numerous pull-overs.

Dear All…Thanks for the advice. I just ordered the so-called $20 starter Toll Tag (wife & I usually only need to use tollways once or twice a month), and will experiment with the various ideas - on the dash, blue painters tape, etc…T

I had an old piece of 1/8' plastic that I cut to the shape of the toll tag and stuck it on there. I pull it out of the glovebox when i'm on a tollway. 99% of the time it's in the glovebox

Bob...you keep the plastic on the windshield (behind rearview.mirror?) permanently & then attach toll tag to it when needed? Thanks...T

nah, the plastic is just a stiff backing for the toll tag to keep it in decent shape. it stays in the glovebox and I hold it up to the toll road sensors when I pass under them, then it goes back in the glovebox. I guess if you were traveling tollways all day it might not be the right option for you. But for occasional tollway travel, it works for me and I don't have to stick the thing on my windshield or mirror

Aha, now I get! Thanks, Bob. When on the tollways, am usually going to a function downtown with the missus, and one of us is pilot and other navigator. So, that sounds like a good job for the navigator, holding it up so that the sensor can see it when you go past the sensor, which I assume are where the old toll booths used to be. Thanks, again...T

I keep my toll tag sticker behind the visor in my Alfa. The car has a small pocket in there for papers. When I need to use the Toll road, I just stick it between the windshield and the headliner. Then when done, back behind the sun visor it goes. Like you, I do not use the tollway much so system works for me.

You know, I never looked to see if such a pocket is to be found on either my Porsche or the wife's Benz. Thanks, Jeff!…T

I keep the sticker tag in the car and anytime I go on the tollway I take the sticker tag (I have not removed the peel off liner so it is not sticky) and I wedge it up between the headliner and the windshield. There is enough room for the paper thin sticker to push in between the headliner and windshield without going all the way into the headliner. When I am done I take it off and put it back in door panel compartment. It holds just fine for the time I am on the tollway and problem about not getting tolltag rates avoided.
