Of course it's hard to tell from photos, but owning several pairs of Tods myself, those look clearly fake. the stitching quality and nobs are obviously poor quality.

the Brown and orange ones are real and from the Tods store.

The black ones I got via Ebay form someone in the UK selling them as genuine. but the second I got them in my hands they already felt very light and not up to par with the real ones. Doubting that they could be maybe a couple of years old at first, but after having a second look I found it hard to believe they are real, so that's why I opened the thread to see if anyone recognizes the black ones as real.

    attached another real deal Tods

Thanks for the extra details. I am afraid I have to agree with the others, the black ones in post # 1 seem to be of lower quality than the other examples...T

The second picture in the original post - with the poorly trimmed rear leather panel and inconsistent stitching - is the most obvious indication for me.

10 years ago I purchased a pair of "authentic" sunglasses on Ebay that were obviously fake when I got them. Seller had 99.5% positive rating with thousands of reviews. I swore never to buy clothing/shoes/etc from Ebay after that. Learned my lesson cheap. So much of it is fake.

Fake. The regular Tod's gommini driving loafers are some of the greatest shoes ever. Incredibly comfortable. I never buy the Ferrari ones because I hate that they have the damn logos - although the colors are nice. But those black ones look clearly fake. Too bad.

I wouldn't buy on ebay, either, although I do think they are quite expensive at the store... Price of quality I guess. I only wish they'd last a little longer.

My wife works for Tod's, I see a lot of them and yes, fake.
Ebay is pretty good about refunds for counterfeit items though.

    thanks for confirming.

issued the claim via Paypal right now.seller ones me to send the pair back and refund (with me paying shipping cost) and then sell to someone else, but my issue is that the seller is selling fake stuff so prefer to have this well registered with Ebay and Paypal.

I know there are good sellers on eBay, but there are so many crooks selling on there that I stay away. I have found Amazon to be much better.

Since the seller has misrepresented the item, you should not have to pay for return shipping.

I'm not going to pay for anything, I filed a claim via Paypal stating that the seller sold fraudulent goods. Once i got the money back I will most probably chuck the shoes away into the bin.
Thought about wrapping them in a newspaper and send them back to the seller but than they might/will get sold to someone else. better to prevent that.

well, after 2 hours of phone calls with Ebay and Paypal (redirected to the Philippines) I had to send the shoes back to the seller at my own cost. I explained them that they would risk that the seller would put the shoes back on Ebay. and guess what, they are now back on sale

It looks like they want $15 for a $400 shoe. What do you expect?

Why haven't you left proper negative feedback?

I did, but guess what, Ebay removed the negative feedback. it was like "buyer beware, counterfeit items"
maybe it was due to the 'counterfeit' it the feedback that Ebay decided to remove it.

I spend more than an hour on the phone with Ebay, but they could not tell me the reason why they removed my feedback.

to me it feels like eBay is trying to promote counterfeit selling and/or maintain good reputation of high volume sellers.

Wow, that is amazing that they removed your feedback. Although I guess it fits with my earlier post that I no longer buy anything on eBay because it is so crooked.

I guess eBay figures that if bad feedback hurts that seller then they don't make their commissions. I think PayPal is spinning off on its own, probably not to be lumped in with eBay's bad reputation.

ebay has a fraud resolution department ( eBay Security Center: Welcome ). Challenge the transaction. It clearly says in the ad these have been "authenticated". As what? An authentic fake?

I have challenged in the past and won for counterfeit items.

It may be too late, but worth inquiring. Rescind the transaction. Alternatively, depending on how you paid (Paypal, etc.), you may have recourse to challenge the transaction. You should also alert them. Depending, they may be able freeze funds in the seller's account and assist in resolving the fraud.

When I had a problem I found that PayPal was of no help (keep in mind they are part of eBay). When I contested the charge with my credit card company and they reversed the charge, suddenly PayPal contacted me and wanted to "settle" this with me. I told them to go .... themselves. Last time I ever dealt with them and last time I ever will.

My experience with PayPal has been very good. On two occasions I have used their resolution hotline and have been pleased with their service. It is a shame your experience was not as good.

They appear fake -- had similar experience buying from a site "tods.uk" that appeared very real but shoes were fake ; logo is different when I compared them to my other Tods and they just felt cheap. The golden rule "If it's too good to be true..." -- gomminis are usually 375 plus (mostly in the 400s) new and these were 100.
