I didn't want this to get buried in the spotters' thread, so I made a dedicated one. As the Denver guys know, I've spent countless hours chasing cars here and in Atlanta, Georgia, where I go to college. I've seen some crazy stuff like a real Ferrari Daytona Spider, five Porsche Carrera GTs, a Maserati MC12, and famously, Ralph Lauren in his Bugatti Veyron. But even after all this time spent chasing cars (I photographed my first-ever exotic car three years ago last Wednesday), I had never seen a Ferrari Enzo. This always irked me because Denver has a very important one: the only black Enzo with a tan interior ever manufactured; a car that was first owned by Las Vegas casino magnate Steve Wynn; a car that is driven a lot; a car that pops up on ExoticSpotter often. That changed tonight. As I was driving past the Westin Tabor Center on 17th and Lawrence here in Denver, I saw it. I promptly stopped, parked in a right turn lane, and just began taking photos. I was dumbfounded. The reaction to this car was crazy. Passersby were photographing it. An entire family had their pictures taken in front of it. The valet summoned hotel staff, and several Westin staffers - including a waiter at The Palm - came out to see it. People going by in cars noticed it and went wild. A guy walking his dog saw it, stopped, and began photographing it on his Blackberry. He then called a friend about it. However, only another valet realized its significance - most people just thought it was "a Ferrari." Eh, no. A few minutes after I showed up, the owner came up. I couldn't think of anything better than "Nice car, buddy," to which he replied, "Thanks" before firing it up and leaving. He turned to go down Arapahoe, and I thought my night was over. However, on my way home, the Enzo got up behind me. I made the decision then and there I was going to follow it for as long as I could before we got into residential neighborhoods (I think it's inappropriate to violate privacy by following owners into neighborhoods). As a result, I was able to get some incredible photos before it got too dark, which are attached below. An incredible night and an incredible car... my birthday is in two days and I can't think of a better 20th birthday present than seeing the Enzo. So, to the owner of the black Enzo in Denver... thanks for driving it, thanks for driving it fast, and thanks for making my week. Hope everyone enjoys the photos! Congrats Doug! That Enzo was taken out into the wild for you! Glad you finally got to complete your modern exotic trifecta, MC12, Veyron, and the almighty Enzo.
Nice spotting. I see Enzos parked at car shows, major race events, etc. But there's something about actually seeing one driving down the road. The only time its happened for me was in CT near Lime Rock; I saw a yellow Enzo drive past us and then turn right.
It is a great car. I remember seeing that exact Enzo pull in to the hangar at the Morgan Adams; it's truly a great sight to see.
Thanks guys! I'm glad everyone enjoyed the photos! Prior to seeing this car on the road, I had seen it before at Ferrari of Denver. I had also seen a red one at a show in Atlanta, and a yellow one at a dealer here in town... so I was really hurting to actually see one on the road. So glad it finally happened! EDIT: for the sake of future searchers, this one is 133118.
Oh Doug, I forgot to mention this: Honestly, I am not making this up. Amazingly, the night before you saw this car I had read the entire thread on the website where your username is M5Power, I forgot the website name. It was the "Veyron sighting trumped? MC12 in Atlanta." Or something like that. I had read everyones comments about you seeing the MC12 and everyone wanted you to finally see an Enzo. The next morning, I woke up and checked the computer. It was a post from you on The ATL Spotters Thread about an Enzo. I thought it was a joke. Haha, but really, congrats on the amazing spot!
Baller. Thanks for the photos. I thought that the ex-Wynn car made its way up to Canada? Maybe this is another Wynn car.
Comparing the two, I'm not sure which I appreciate more. The Enzo is much more common (relative to the MC12) but I've been after it so long... for those interested, here is the thread on the MC12 to which he is referring.
Great photos and story as well. I used to do the same when I was stationed in Holland during the mid 80's.
He actually walked up to the car from down the street - I don't think he had been at The Palm; just left the car there because it was the only valet in close proximity. Thanks again for all the kind words, everyone!
It's an insane color on an insane car. I will never forget seeing it for a split second as it passed by me on the other side of I70. You see them in showrooms and car shows but it's so much different, out of this world, when it's unexpected. I've never said "holy ****, thank you God" so many times in my life haha....
Also does anyone know if Rob Rapp's old yellow/tan one is still at the Gallery near Coors stadium? That was also one of a kind...
Thanks again for all the kind words, everyone - sightings like this followed by the praise of a job well done make all this work worth it! The Enzo was the last "possible" car I had yet to see... now I'm just looking for "impossible" stuff - like the Ferrari F50, Koenigsegg, McLaren F1, Jaguar XJ220, etc. I'm not sure how realistic any of that is, but then again I never thought I'd see a Maserati MC12, either! That car is gone. It was sold only a few weeks after first being offered. Here is the link to the "sold" page on The Motorsports Gallery's website.
