Hi Just wanted to ask the benefits of purchasing an Australian delivered 360 to a UK import there seems to be a substantial price variation. Thanks Elio
2 things off the top of my head... Time factor is a biggie, the process of importing via a ship, getting it offloaded and then complying it via RAWS workshop, i reckon you'll be looking at around 6-12 weeks and quite possibly longer. I would say 8+ weeks is the norm but i'm sure a few luckier people may have had a quicker turn around. Also UK cars have had lived a much rougher life as the environment isn't as kind to the cars compared with here, for instance over there they use Salt on roads in winter and if owners dont keep them clean it will show. I have seen a number of early imported UK Maserati 3200/4200GT's sitting in RAWS shops with heavily rusted/corroded out suspension components.
hands up who's sick of this topic? Has been discussed to death in hundreds of threads. Next time, try the forum search function please.
I would never buy one from UK, because of the salt they put on the roads in the winter. I lived in London back in the 70's and the SLUSH on their roads is aweful. Salt gets into everything.

Hey Elio, UK cars are cheaper to begin with. Brand new they were $100k cheaper than what we were paying. Now with our strong $ you can get one landed here for under $100k. Australian used car market is savy enough to know that imports in general are cheaper no matter what brand. Other problems for imports are lack of history/documents, Salt/corrosion, red carpet, market is flooded with imports, unable to search to keep IanB sane, higher mileage, colours no one wants. Most people that buy a car from the UK are trying to save a buck so when they go there they don't usually look for the best car on the market, they look for the bargain car so like bargain cars in general they are usually not in the best condition. Which means costly repairs in the future. The only time a imported car is worth something is when it's a rare model. The 360 is the last "modern" Ferrari you can import without any real restrictions from customs so the market is flooded with 360's which of course effects local car prices to an extent. There is nothing wrong with getting a UK car, they all came from the same factory
612 and 575 (if I'm not mistaken) are allowed in, can't see too many of them coming though. Mind you, a 1998-99 550 is about the same money as a good 360 (50K GBP), not sure how much a compliance job would be.
I have a UK red 2005 F360 F1 spyder with a stack of extras. Carbon fibre seats, challenge grill, challenge wheels, etc. If they were on a Aussie car it would have cost me atleast another 10-20k in extras. So i think ive saved approx 50k in comparison to a Aussie car.Thankfully the car is in A1 condition with all service records and good life on the clutch. I personally wanted to save a few $$ and to some degree took a big risk when importing it, But thankfully all worked out well. So if its $$ you want to save, I think its worth it. Make sure the cars service history is upto date and checks out fine. There a plenty here to choose from, And saves the 3-4 month wait. Most can be bought for a great price. Best of luck with your descion and take your time choosing, The advertised ones arn't going anywhere to fast.
Yeah... I mean't V8's According to RCVS horrible (we code from the 90's) website, the 612 used to be able to get privately imported up to 2008 build but according to a 2011 update this is no longer the case. Looking for a RAW doesn't give you the 575 or 612 option, tho the double 550 might be a typo for the 575 Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Shall we apply this rule to all the other threads here? If that were the case there'd only be about three left. At least this topic is about Ferrari's...
Thanks Guys for your feedback its greatly appreciated truly sorry if the topic has come up before just new to the site. I have found the site excellent is it worth joing the Silver or Rossa private forum ? Regards Elio
Welcome Elio. This topic has been discussed MANY times over the years. There is a search function at the top left of the page. If you have trouble finding anything next time, just send me a PM and I will be able to help you out. Silver Subscription is well worth it IMO. Many interesting topics discussed in the Silver section and you also access the business/politcal sections, and more. You also get a cool avatar and more PM storage space. Check it out and if you decide it's not worth it, it was only $15 and you don't have to subscribe again in 12 months time. Take care and enjoy mate.
