Missing a single cap and really didn't want to say anything to Ferrari. Just thought of purchasing a set of aluminium ones BUT on ebay and saw this: Ferrari Silver Grey Plastic TPMS Tyre Pressure Sensor Valve Caps - TPMS SAFE "NEVER put Metal Valve Caps on TPMS Sensors. TPMS Valve Stems require Silver Grey Plastic Caps found here... You may prefer the look of Chrome Metal Valve Caps but they are not suitable for TPMS Valves. Using Metal Dust Caps will cause Galvanic Corrosion and cause your valve stem to corrode and break. Vehicle Manufacturer's now state the warranty on TPMS Valves is voided if metal caps are used on wheels. Our Silver Grey Plastic TPMS Valve Caps are fully compatible with all TPMS Valves." Item Condition Is this true ?????
If a galvanic reaction did occur, i doubt the valve stems would break. One has to wonder if the seller is using scare tactics to promote sales of the product. I used metal caps on my 458 and never had an issue.
The statement is true .. my daily driver use to have metal covers and not if the salt /rain caused it but they did pretty much fuse together... now i use plastic This happen to me on a hyundai and a Mercedes Not sure with the fair weather our f cars see if it is an issue though Sent from my SM-T380 using Tapatalk
If concerned use white lithium grease on the threads of the stem to stop galvanic current. Myself will stick to the stock plastic.
I have the plastic caps but missing one. While I googled I saw the same caps for sale , they are cheap so no issue but I also saw all the other comments on the product. I copy and pasted it at the beginning of the thread. Really just wanted to know if there was any truth in it as I have never had a car with TPMS sensors ?
I will have to check but I think the TPMS stems are plated so would usually help avoid issues. Some OEMs use metal caps and I've not had any issues with those.
