So, after a long search and heavy thinking, I finally stepped out and did custom sidewalls on my 06 F430. I think it looks awesome, and although the Ferrari gets a whole bunch of stares, I can surely say this put it over the edge...

Got them from TireGraficx out of Jersey.

Could the adhesive do damage to the compound in the side wall?

No I don't think so... It's a really thin layer of adhesive and seems to be specifically for bonding rubber.

    They look good............however.....
To prep the tire sidewall (for bonding of the rubber letters ) you are required to wipe the sidewall down with acetone till it arrives at a grey hue.
This can't be good for the tire.

the adhesive is not the main issue.....wiping down the tires sidewall with acetone till the tires sidewall turns grey is the issue.
Surely this is not recommended by any tire manufacturer????

They can look neat on some cars. Had a few fly off at 150+mph on the dyno. Was pretty funny to see random letters stuck on the roof and back window afterwords.

At least they were still on the front tires :D

Don't worry about cleaning your sidewalls. LOL! All you are doing is removing the oil that has sweated out of the tire. About 5 to 7 gallons of oil are used to manufacture a tire. Its not just the brake dust people are always cleaning off the tire but oil from the rubber. Grey is the actual color of the rubber once the oil residue on the surface is removed. Tires look awesome BTW. I don't know why manufactures don't offer this as an option.

    I hope your right.
I recall in the 90's when tire manufacturers advised against using petroleum based products such as armorall on tires (which we were all doing at the time) as tire dressing because of possible damage to the rubber.
Today they have specific products for tire dressing.

Have you contacted your tire dealer or tire manufacturer to inquire if using acetone on the tires sidewall is considered acceptable?

Acetone is a pretty strong solvent. It does not sound right to wash and de- oil the rubber compound.

Ok, I guess I'm the only one that doesn't care for the NASCAR look. Unless I'm being paid to promote their tires I'm not making a billboard out of my tires.

No, you're not the only one. It is different though...to each his own. And I think the point about strong solvents and rubber is well taken. Time will tell!

I don't think fingernail polish is going to due much harm to a tire that gets heated to several hundred degrees and is subjected to thousands of pounds of pressure.

I wouldn't soak a tire in it... but cleaning the sidewall of it shouldn't cause significant harm. Everytime your car gets washed the tires get "degreased" and many detailers actually use acid...

acetone is a non issue more than likely... think of half fast it evaporates as well.

    Use your head

uh......your wifes (diluted) finger nail polish remover acetone and commercial grade acetone are two different things LOL.
the commercial grade acetone can dissolve cured epoxy..... and your not using that to remove nail polish.

    Nope, you're not.

Not a fan. Tire wall is too small to accommodate a billboard for the brand.

Not like it's a 70 series bias ply tire, after all.

Yeah, I think that's quite a reach. I like the look, however I had low-profile tires on my Porsche 993 and it Road like a lumber wagon, biggest mistake I ever made with that car.
