Jenson was a very good driver with very clean trajectories.
He was unlucky with his career's choices and it's a shame he won his only one championship with a borderline car.
    He deserved much better.

Jenson Button could be fast but never looked very motivated to me; in the pit lane, he was judged to be a playboy .
Button had problem with several team mates, kept changing of manager, and was mostly interested in having a good time (like Hunt or Irvine).
Reading the résumé of his career shows that he kept hesitating between teams, signing several options some years, breaking contracts, etc ...
His title in 2009 came as a complete fluke and took F1 by surprise
It could have gone the other way if the double diffuser on the Brawn had been outlawed, but the FIA was lenient, and it wasn't .
Button capitalised on his advantage early in the season and took 7 GPs until the other teams caught up.
The championship was his by then. Button was the luckiest S.O.B in F1 !

For a dilettante driver he was very competitive against hamilton during their partneship in Mclaren.

Button didn't make many career choices, he was ousted from Williams and then from Renault, and then he just got lucky with Brawn when his career was almost over.

His only real choice was leaving Mercedes for McLaren. Right in the short term, but maybe wrong later.

He actually outscored Hamilton during their time together.

And apparently had issues with his team mates unlike Lewis who never had issues with Button (remember his confused tweets) and Rosberg lol.

    Best,
    Sammy
