In the case of 5073, it is really pretty amazing. Someone tears a car down that far and pour so much capital into it but completely overlooks the car’s most glaring fault.

I'm not sure what you're saying. Care to elaborate? I'm fairly new to the vintage Ferraris.

John, I"m with Al on this one - I don't see the glaring fault. Maybe you gotta be a Lusso owner to see it... :)

Steve, you don't have to be a Lusso owner.

    The seller was
    mkletzmer

Tom S has had a bad experience (as posted in the 246 section) to the tune of $4,000.00.
That's enough for me to raise serious BS alarms on the seller.

For the ignorant among us would someone be willing to clarify 5073's glaring fault?

Something doesn't look right with the nose of this car. John thinks it was badly mangled and not repaired well. The grille is off and one fender sits higher than the other. Or maybe it's a bad photo? I wonder if it looks bad in person.

How can you tell one fender sits higher than the other? The shot was taken at an angle. I do agree, the grill does look strange. I have a hard time believing all that time and money went into it and they decided to put at bent grill on it. It could just be the lighting and angle that causes this.

I was about to say the glaring fault was that the color isn't red! :p I think that silver is perfect. :) tdf would look nice, too.

    Steve,

To me the gille and stance have to do with the photograph and the way the car was lit. Are you guessing that this is what John is referring to or did he tell you this?

    I'm in line with mdsaxon - it's the foor mat ;) .

    Regards,

    Art S.

I think I know the real answer. I'm waiting to hear this:

What is wrong with the car?

An old thread seems to contain the answer - at least in regards to the burgundy photos:

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=72281

I still think we might be seeing some sort of optical illusion in the most recent photo from the auction. I sent a note to the caretaker of this car to see if he can clarify the details of the restoration or provide other images. :)
