My Italian is not sufficient enough, so could you or someone else be able to tell whether the above news story included or suggested a reason for the confiscation ?
Obviously something to do with money, but what exactly ?
    Just mildly curious.

A Ferrari Drogo 250 GT 2+2, a Ferrari 330 GT with GTO replica bodywork, a Ferrari Testarossa with "boat" type bodywork. To complete poker, a Lancia Lambda VII series protagonist of the Thousand Miles. These are the four vintage cars (of the highest level) seized on the morning of Friday, March 15 by the Guardia di Finanza of Chivasso, as part of a procedure, opened at the Public Prosecutor's Office of Ivrea, aimed at ascertaining its originality.

The Guardia di Finanza seizes three vintage Ferraris: they could be fake

The Chivasse Yellow Flames under the command of Captain Dario Gattiglio showed up this morning, March 15, at the gates of the former "Carrozzeria Bertone" of Chivasso, on the road Turin, in whose sheds the cars were kept. Present is the owner of the structure, who after collaborating in the operations of the Guardia di Finanza did not want to make any statement about it.

    Investigations in progress

Investigators maintain the utmost secrecy on the matter, as well as on the charges that could range from "Introduction into the State and trade of products with false signs" to "Manufacture and trade of goods made by usurping industrial property titles" or even "Receiptions of cultural property".

The doubt, as mentioned, is that the specimens were not entirely original (despite some also had certifications that make them suitable to participate in the most important historical races), and it is also known to non-enthusiasts how Ferrari is very " jealous" of its brands.

Theoretically, while waiting to read the papers, as for similar cases that have occurred in the past, we could speak of "cloned" vehicles starting from original pieces.

    The cars in the crosshairs

As mentioned, there are four cars that ended up in the sights of the investigators.

Starting with the Ferrari Drogo 250 GT, the specimen in question is already known to fans of the "rampant horse", as it would have the chassis reprinted using license plates and original documents from 1961.

As for the Lancia, on the other hand, the specimen seized in Chivasso has a decidedly exciting story: "Bought on March 22, 1927 by Augusto Battaglini, a Lancia dealer in Florence - reads on the website of an auction house that offers it for sale with an estimate of 250/270 thousand euros - it is registered with a FI 2 license plate. Battaglini enrolled in the Mille Miglia of that same year, running in pairs with his brother Rinaldo after having been authorized by Vincenzo Lancia himself. He is credited with the number 24 and, after a brilliant race, they reach the finish line 16th absolute; an excellent result since they are preceded by real champions of the steering wheel.

In August 1932, the Lambda was sold to the pioneer of motorsport and great enthusiast, Baron Fianchetti, who, with his artistic exer, designed and had a new sports and aerodynamic bodywork built and replaced its engine. You will continue to use it for a few years before giving it away. The Lambda VII series thus comes to the present day and is part of the collection of a Lancia Lambda enthusiast. It obtained in 2011, the FIVA passport with the attribution of class B/3 and previously, in 2007 it had been exhibited inside the Mille Miglia Museum in Brescia. Perfectly restored a few years ago, it is ready to run the re-enactment of the famous Brescia marathon again".

    The kidnapping

Placed under seizure, the cars (with the escort of the Guardia di Finanza) were entrusted to a workshop of the first Turin belt.
