    Hello guys

I have been driving 10 model 458 for 7 months now and i just put 1800 miles on the car because of how hard it is to live with everyday.
The car is very comfortable and silent when the valves are closed BUT,ferrari factor, enormous attention, and the lack of sterio, extra space etc has become a downside for me.

After i saw the first pictures of the all new amg gts i just fell in love with that car.
The cabin, long hood, new engine, new toys, and everyday driveability, burmeister high end surround etc all of them are my cup of the.

A fully loaded gts here is 330-350 euros brand new,my car second hand worth about 300k euros.

Downside will be the noise but only in high revs at low revs i hate the sound of my car with race cats and novitec box.

Ups will be everyday driveability, excellent sterio, and of course all new design.

So what do you think guys ?

    Thanks

Where do you live that makes the 458 undriveable? I am in the UK, and have to 'chose' to drive my C63 AMG over the 458. The only thing that stops me on occasion is parking, as Brits are remarkably socialist when seeing a Ferrari left on its own, so you need safe parking. Otherwise, it does everything the AMG does - better!

Driving in adverse conditions, the 458 kills the AMG for stability and traction

I would think parking could be the biggest issue with the car. I do not take mine to appointments that I wish I could. I do not think that a GT S would solve that problem for me though

If u live in a place where u cant use the 458, dont think that an AMG will solve it. Either u switch to a mercedes S63 or coupès will always attract attention.

Since u fell in love with the AMG, and since we can all see the shape of the car thank to our good friend Usta here, why not an FF ?

Cause i am 24 and ff or s class is out of question :)
I think 991 or amg cars dont attract much attention, ferrari is a different leauge when it comes to external attention

Well, don't know if this helps, but I have a 2011 458 and a 2013 SLS GT. My guess is that my 2013 SLS GT will get more attention than the new AMG GT because of the cartoonist proportions.

I can't vouch for the new AMG, but the SLS is really fun to drive, but not linear or predictable in its power application or pushing it at the edge. As a driver, you have to be very aware or risk disaster.

The 458 is the opposite. The average driver can easily out drive the SLS with the 458. In more comfort.

So i hope AMG got the evolution of the SLS into the GT radically better. Otherwise, you may be let down by the GT.

Sure it is a great drivers car with a fab engine but it looks all wrong & out of proportion

The SLS was an amazing car. I am not too fond of the new GT. I get a very synthetic impression from the sound and the optics wont be too appraling next to a 458. If I would go GT cruiser I would go aston martin.

i have bad luck with my two amg sportscars.
i vowed to never buy another mb.
my first problem mercedes was an sl55: it went back to mercedes because it was a lemon.
the dealer could not repair the abc suspension after 7 attempts.
    my 2nd was an sl63.
the multiclutch tranny jerked HARD every time i moved the car from a dead stop, in first gear.
turns out this is a common problem wtih this transmission.
i have owned 7 porsches and 4 ferrris.
fortunately i have had no "issues" with any of the p-cars or f-cars.

Maybe I misunderstood but why does your 458 have race cats and Novitec box if you prefer a quiet car?

If you love the AMG then you just have to decide if you want to spent another 50K plus taxes for it. Life is short - get what you really want. Good luck.

I saw the AMG GTS today at the Barrett Jackson auto auction in Scottsdale. I loved the way it looked. Gorgeous! Very slick looking car. Not sure if its in the same league as a 458 but a nice car nonetheless.

I have driven it. Mercedes hosted an event in Palm Springs at the Thermal Club. It is a very fun car to drive. I drove it on the track and also up through the hills outside Palm Springs. Very different than the SLS. There is one major problem with it....there is no horsey on it. Haha

I own both the SLS amg and 458 speciale. And got the chance to drive the new AMG GT more then once.

The car sounds fantastic at low revs however a bit artificial. Once you hit high speed is sounds crap almost silent like all turbos. The SLS just gets louder as you pick up speed and thats the reason i bought the speciale cuz i want more. Cabin is very tight compared to the SLS and the 458. I would not call it the long comfortable cruiser especially for tall people.

The AMG GT S is turbo which is a fail in my book...especially coming from an NA 458.

Do you like the sound? Meh

Front engine layout should be compared to F12 and California. If I wanted a front engine car would look at those first.

Suggest you keep the 458 for the special times and get something else for every day. If you don't want so much attention I agree with the others perhaps another sports car is not the way to go. But I do agree the AMG won't grab as much attention as the others. I suggest for your other car: AMG E63 Estate/Wagon with 4Matic. That and a 458 are a dream combo :)

Yes SLS amg BS is a beast and its a collector if you can get your hands on one.

It cost more second hand compared to when it was brand new one year ago

i actually started researching this car after this thread... and i am intrigued!

i'm coming from lambo gallardo, bentley gt, california, 458 spider

this car ticks everything in a GT for me, even price seems exceptional, the only thing lacking is the "exotic" factor

thanks for the heads up i will keep you posted if i get one
