I think the JGC is your best bet. If you want all those specs, and an SUV, its the only way to go without buying a pickup.

  2. Definently a Fine choice and no you dont need spinners on it its a perfectly refined, fast, capable SUV. The JGC is second on my list the WK hasnt grown on me yet but being a WJ owner I could say there well worth the price and very capable stock.

The G55 Kompressor looks good but expesnive.

    I just finished driving a V 10 Tour-Egg TDI

IT IS ONE OF THE BEST car/truck things I have ever evaluated

wonderful power, fast, has off road capabilities that are REAL not like many of the crossovers and a couple of things you might consider

If you qualify for the "TAX" on commercial usage you can write off the full amount of the Car in the first year because it qualifies for the Over XXX GVRW
    AND
aside from the near 30 mpg that I was getting in it there is another benefit because it is a Diesel you can also apply for a $5000 tax credit on top for a "Alternate fuel" rebate.

They are as scarce as hens teeth but if you can grab up one GET IT

The FX is intended to emphasize the "Sport" in SUV. It's primary market competitor is the BMW X5 SAV.

Look into the Cadillac SRX's with the Northstar v8. I would also look into the Volvo XC90's, but would wait till they get the 315-329hp 4.4v8.

To Letsjet, if numbers and functions that you are comparing, then JGJ get my nod (similar# to my QX56 in terms of amenities, but QX56 is a bigger SUV seats 7 or 8 comfortably, towing cap. 8900lbs..., price about $10K more). Some people buys SUV for different reasons- not just stats# alone (ie. brand name, prestige $$, security blanket-a myth, hauling their kids... to name a few), some even want a comfort ride like their sedan and some SUV will never touch mud-like mine. So buy it with your previous experience, and NEEDS. My .02c

    Neither did I.

These threads typically turn into 'who can name the most expensive SUV.' The Cherokee ain't on that list. But...

I have owned a GC for about 2 years and love it. Many of my friends have owned (Grand) Cherokees for years and agree. I have 150K on mine, commute 75 miles per day roundtrip and just took it camping to the top of the mountains in VA this past weekend. Killer 4WD performance and smooth on the highway. It does it all!

The 4.0L inline 6 has been around since WWII and is virtually bulletproof. I think people get far more problems with the 8.

I'd go w/ the Tourag. I went from a JGC Overland to a Tourag and couldn't be happier.

What did you spend on it? I just went on the site and configured one for $64,200............ For that price I have a lot of options. Is this as close as I can get to the JGC LIMITED at $38K?

The Hemi is a pretty sweet engine (for a truck). For +/- $38K, why not get a Durango Limited (lists ~ $41K well optioned; goes for ~ $30K based on Chrysler rebates and incentives). Bigger form factor than the JGC and kinda funky looking, but for $30K...

Also, consider used ML55 - you should be able to find one in nice shape in the mid-$30K range. Used ML500 would be even less.

    Toyota/Lexus & Acura - nice, reliable...no guts.

I just bought an 04 MDX.
    0-60 7.8 sec
05' are the same except they have bluetooth
    Very sporty driving.
    Voice activated Navigation
    Rear DVD
    Seats 7.
    I like it a lot.
If you are looking for towing etc, I think the Armada is the way to go.
9600 lb towing capacity and is in the 40k range.
I paid high 30's for the MDX with every available option.
The Armada drives like a truck, the MDX more like a sport sedan.
The JEEP is JUNK!!!!!!!! The resale is Terrible and the quality is even
worse. Stay away from it!!!!!!!!! MDX holds very high resale.
I personally think the Titan and the Armada are somewhat ugly
especially on the inside.......but I will probably buy a Titan for
what it is capable of, and it is a lot for the money.
If towing is important.......go look at the BIG Armada
I have an older Nissan truck and it has been a VERY good truck.

The Armada or the QX56, or the FX45...NissanMotors is killing the American society...they have some of the best trucks and SUV's...

    Agreed,

    OR

As someone else mentioned... the Durango would probably be your best bet. If you can look past the compensation styling, there's a beautiful SUV underneath. If you're not interested in the Nissan, this would be your best bet. It trails just behind the Armada in towing, but has practically the same acceleration and is lighter. You get the Hemi, its performed favorably in mag tests, and should be around the same price as the JGC.

In the end, please try out the armada, QX56, and the FX series. In addition, trying the Durango, toyota/lexus SUV (whichever suits you the best), and the tuereg should help make the best decision. Nissan/Infiniti and Dodge are putting some incredible products out, and toyota/lexus is performing reliably(although blandly) as usual. I understand being loyal to a car/SUV you've previously had or experienced, but I wish no regrets on you after riding in a friends SUV (one of the above) or at the time to sell your SUV.

    Good luck!!

    Paul
