    Well, that says for sure his radiator is working just fine.

    The T-stat i mentioned starts opening at 166, perhaps a tad cold, but anything over 180 is too hot on a carb'dcar, in most cases. A 180 T-stat should let the car operate in the 180-190* range. Your 176 would seem to me to be ideal for a carb car. Since you have FI, you can obviously go higher for better fuel economy.

    The 176* is where it starts to open. So fully open would be around 180 to 185. But I never put it in the car. This is where my 85 QV typically runs at on a hot day in New England with the OEM T Stat. It will hit just under the first mark past 195, about 220, idling in traffic under the same weather conditions. All stock. Nothing replaced since new except went to a 1 BAR cap.
