I must be a cad. They all pretty much taste the same to me. Not like a Brandy. If you mix them you are just pouring $ down the toilet, er throat. There was a beet Vodka years ago that had a very distinct flavor. Gone now.
My 21 year old tells me to buy cheap vodka and run it through a Britta filter . . . not sure how I feel about him telling me that!
My favorite by far is Rodnik (Родник, but there is no US distribution. Russian Standard (pусский стандарт is a good substitute. Keep it in the freezer and drink it straight in a rumka (Рюмкой. Don't mix it with anything...
It's awful! I saw the bottle at the bar, looks cool and of course I feel for the name. It's absolutely awful!
at first my wife said i purchased a book for you to read! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Anybody tried Crystal Head, (its the bottle shaped like a glass skull) I saw Dan Ackroyd (owner) , publicise it last year on TV and said it won award, but never had the chance to try it yet. Is it worth trying to find. Crystal Head Vodka
I haven't tried it personally but from what I've heard the big thing is the shape of the bottle. The vodka is okay but nothing special. Few of us enjoyed a snow chilled bottle of Belvedere, that was good.
Has anyone tried Boyd Blair Vodka? A craft vodka out of PA. It was recommended to me by a well known mixologist.
Haven't tried many of the labels you guys mentioning, but I love the grey goose taste and that it does less harm to your head next morning... Worst I tried are varieties in 90's in Russia, probably made from benzin lol. And that is coming from a russian
This thread started a long time ago but if its still open why not.... Dripping Springs Texas Vodka. I have had many different kinds all the way from a rot gut to a fine spirit, but this is my favorite now and it does not seem to be changing any time soon.
Tito's & Dripping Springs...thanks for supporting vodkas made in Texas! IMO, Deep Eddy is also quite good, as is their ruby red infused vodka, if you like flavored vodkas.
We go for potato vodka also. Cirrus vodka is #1 then Chopin. Always have a couple bottles of Cirrus in the freezer. Cirrus Vodka - About Us
At the USGP last year Tito's was the drink of choice - COTA flame - had 5 of them on Friday ( set of glasses too!) - was good... then just tito's and cranbery splash. No hangover!
Have a bottle of Crystal Head on the bar. It was all about the bottle. Picked it up when Dan Aykroyd was here promoting it and signing bottles. From what I hear, it's nothing you'd wanna sip on. So mine will remain a decoration unless less I'm locked inside for a year and have nothing else to drink. If that happens, I'll post a review.
For those of you in Houston and in the mood for a nice vodka drink, I suggest Hearsay Gastro Lounge. I'm usually an "on the rocks" guy with three olives to be precise, but sometimes you have to switch it up. They have a drink called the Jalapeño...vodka, lemon, sugar and jalapeño. But when you order it, ask for their in-house pepper infused vodka. They use habañero and jalapeño and it takes the drink to another level. Goes down so smooth with such a nice kick. They sneak up on you like a midget ninja.
+1 on the Chopin. I drink it on the rocks with a couple of olives the olives are how I get my vegetables for the week
