Seriously, this car was called a "Tuscani". I forgot the model designation and it had a strange badge on it. What is it? Hyundai? Image Unavailable, Please Login
It's a Tuscani, but that's it's name outside the US iirc. Tiburon is the US name for it. Kind of like 350Z in US, Fairlady Z in Japan.
Yes, the Tuscani is the revised Hyundai Tiburon for 2005. The name comes from Cani, meaning Dogs and Tus meaning breakfast in Latvian. Hence the Hyundai Dogs Breakfast.
I didn't care for it. Transiently, it stays flat. But steady state, it'll just flop on a side. (kind've the reverse of an audi). The 6 speed is a rediculusly close ratio. I think I was 1/2 through third before I got to 60. Pretty underpowdered as well . It's a girls car here in Michigan. I think Hyundai makes some pretty decent cars. That car will hold itself together for a long time.
I don't know where you got that to be $50k USD, but $35k AUD is $26,901.89 USD. That's also $33,274.42 CAD.
It's just a Hyundai, also known as a Tiburon. Slow as a slug, although it looks OK. There are no real Korean performance cars. This car looks the part of a performance car, but it's nowhere near as fast as a WRX or an Evo, which *are* really fast, but don't look the part.
That's neither here nor there, because Pininfarina has supposedly styled some monstrous looking Hyundais too, e.g. the Matrix : And there are Asian cars that are pretty good looking, and are definitely not styled by Italians, like the 350Z : I think the Tiburon was a sort of fluke, frankly. And it still doesn't look all that nice to me, just looks sort of "OK".
If that's so, a swap is easy to do ? I'd rather like to have the new "nice looking' exterior with a serious powerplant.
Where its true its not on Ferraris level of power it is certainly not slow as a slug. My car which is supercharged has around 270 whp. It is certainly as fast as an EVO or wrx in fact my car is quite a bit faster. I read an article where a stock Tiburon ran on the track against a Porche Boxter. Even with the Hyundai giving up 70HP it was under 2 seconds behind the Boxter on a 2.5 mile track. I would say thats a real Korean performance car IMO.
Is your's a 6speed or a 5speed? I test drove a 6 speed. I think I had to put it in 4th before I got to 60mph...... Geared way to short for me.
The 6-speed has a 4.33 in the rear end. So it's a good distribution of performance in acceleration and top speed. My car, though not having been on the drag strip in months should run around a 14.7. Not super fast, but not slow. I have raced a couple 350Z's and G35 coupes and usually run about even with them, if not, ever so slightly behind. I have also reached the top speed of 150 mph in my car. So it has some top end .
