    Here's one for old-time "Road & Track" readers; I'm speaking of April 1964, when "R&T" did a spoof of itself called "Rod & Truck".

    One of the features covered the mythical "Slagwicke Motor Carriage Exposition". One of the vehicles shown was "Headstrong-Snailby's ominous four-ton Veritable Mk XVI", which looked like a VW Microbus chassis fitted with a ridiculously large camper body that was nearly twice as wide and twice as tall as the original cab.

    Well, at the recent Euro Auto Fest in S.C., I think I found a real "Veritable Mk XVI": immense, though not really ridiculously so, based on a Mercedes chassis. This thing seemed to have all the comforts of home.
