I've been thinking about printing up some "Ferrari Chat Lynch Mob" t-shirts. I figure they'd be tough to sell initially, but if I could get two or three people to bite another twenty+ would jump in.
Shoulda known that someone who owns as many old Ferraris as you do would have to be a masochist. Reminding you about the pedals. They say the memory is the second thing to go. I forget what the first is.
I just had my 512TR full service Friday, belts etc. today I took out the wife for a sunday drive and suddenly BANG! blew the belt, what should I do, can anyone help, thanks,,
Good evening everyone . I know it has been a year since my last post. I am now finally going to give you guys a update . First of all the timing belt broke due to a missing or loose bolt that held the timing shoe. We found it logged in between the water pump. Unfortunately this was a mechanic error. The mechanic took full responsibility. The reason I have not posted for a year was because I had a situation that has to be handled properly and respectfully. The car was brought to the shop last September. Motor was taken out and the heads were dismantled. We found a five bent valves. They were not that bad , the pistons were in good shape. I thought it would be worse. The damage was light. It was probably due to my quick thinking in taking the car out of gear as soon as the belt broke. I went by the shop later in October to see the car and the mechanic already had the most of the parts there . At that point I knew he was a man of his word. I told him to take your time on the the car , was not in a rush. During the the winter time I came by time to time to see the work they were doing. I was very satisfied. Unfortunately later in the winter the mechanic that was working on my car got into a real bad automobile accident. He was off work for a couple of months. As he got better he started working on my car little by little. Which was fine for me. By the time spring came along they started working on the car a little bit more. By jun and July the heads were done . I ended up replacing all the valves . As the engine was being put back together, I asked the mechanic to do some extra work. I had the drive shafts re done , they had a bit of surface rust. He cleaned them , installed new rubber boots and clamps . Had the intake manifold taken apart and cleaned, Installed new spark plug wires and new rubber hoses. By the second week of August the car was ready . I couldn't pick it up because I went to Italy again. I got back last week . I had the car delivered to my house yesterday . Let me tell you what an amazing job they did. The car runs like it was band new . The motor purses like a kitten. It runs better than it did before. I am so happy. I have to thank my mechanic for doing an amazing job and also stepping up and taking all the responsibility. I'll post some picture tomorrow
Glad to hear you have your car back and running well! A nut came off my belt tensioner as well(pictured), fortunately I had taken it in for the major and the mechanic found it after taking the botttom pan off. The shoe had come apart.
