.....is that they don't run in the rain!

NASCAR tried to run this week's Texas race on Sunday, then on Monday, then on Tuesday. And based on today's forecast, they won't run it today, either! So it will become a Thursday race, if they don't just cancel it outright.

And then they'd have to skedaddle to make it to Martinsville for this weekend!

Someone suggested that they should simply race the jet-dryers instead. Sounds like a good idea.....

If they'd put their balls on, they'd race in the rain.

I'm sure we've all witnessed sports car racing at Daytona one time or another. I may
recall instances of four different classes (some with open cockpits) racing flat out on the
banking in virtual monsoon conditions and the world didn't come to an end.

They should just have the haulers race each other to Martinsville.

NASCAR has about as much cred as the WWE.

A few years ago they were going to introduce semi-tractor racing on ovals in this country, but it never got off the ground. That might still be something to try.

NASCAR is like watching a toilet flush for 3 hours.

However, ovals can be useful, for Figure 8 Bus Racing.

Boat racing on dry land? Positively bizarre, but then I've seen them do strange things in the Northwest.

I was talking to a guy at the 2018 FCA meet that took his 458 to Daytona for the Ferrari event right after the 500. He was telling me about the chances of a rear tire blow out on the drivers side because of all the pressure on that tire driving on such a steep bank. If you don't maintain speed you slip down the wall! It sounded like something that I don't think I want to do with my car.

Good tires don’t typically blow out, but there is increased load on the outside tire. The minimum speed to stay on the banking is probably pretty slow for a car like a Ferrari. Imagine only going 100mph on the banks- fast enough to stay on them, but agonizingly slow. I only went 150 around Daytona and it feels slow after a few laps.

I went 100 in my Ferrari at Talladega, and it was just enough for the car to feel comfortable in the middle lane. The car was clearly capable of more, but the driver wasn't!
