The Azzuri showed us how it's done !! This could have easily been a 3-1 or 4-1 match for Italy if they didn't hestitate so much in front of the net. I cannot believe the opportunities Italy had to bury Germany... Well done, just well done. We just need to repeat this on Sunday... Man ,between Alonso's win and Italy's performance so far..., I don't know how much more excitement I can handle... And just when you think this is over, the Olympics start ! More soccer to look forward to!

"La Germania è confusa e alle corde, punita dal cinismo di una squadra, quella di Prandelli, capace di capitalizzare al meglio tutte le occasioni da gol create"

Love this quote from Corriere Dello Sport

Translation: Germany was confused and on the ropes, getting punished by the cynisism of Prandelli's team who seem more confident in their ability to capitalize on their scoring chances.

I also love this quote from Prandelli:

quando si parla di Italia tutti devono stare molto attenti...

Translation: When you speak of Italy, everyone should be very careful...

Trapatoni said the same thing about Italy after they defeated his Ireland team.
Let's not forget that Italy scored first against Spain in the opening match and from what I saw when they played Portugal, they will have their hands full with the Azzuri!!

For your entertainment.... In short "Germany dominated and liquidated with two goals by SuperMario Balotelli. And now, will Monti(Italian Prime Minister) be able to imitate the Azzurri with the Chancellor(Merkel)? " They just had to mix the politics in there.... Sorry treedee3d, didn't mean to copy what you did. My dad sent me this from Italy...

So I'm at Mass this morning, and in the closing prayers, the priest asks everyone to recite altogether a Hail Mary for the Italian soccer team.

Ya just gotta love belonging to an Italian Parrish! :D

They haven't beaten Italy since 1920 .... Yes, Spain should be embarrassed.

Spain was the better team and deserved it today...

I would have much prefered to see either Germany win it or lose to Portugal. Spain always gets to their finals with penalty kick wins and luck, along with talent, is on their side.

Italy were tired today and the injuries totally sabotaged their game. Chiellini couldn't keep up with the run on the opening goal and thiago mota's injury killed any chance of a comeback.

Congrats to Spain and thank you Azzurri for giving us thrills and hope..

Sure didn't look like a rested team today, maybe too much pasta at lunch for them, they seemed slow..the second half they seemed to be on pace. A little surprised it went that way for them...but it was a good euro cup , some decent upsets.

How could they be rested??? They had 2 days less rest vs Germany and were coming off 120 minutes of play vs England and they had 1 day less rest than Spain who basically did nothing but jog around for 2 hours vs. Portugal.

Plus, they had lots of injured key guys playing (Cassano, Thiago Mota, DeRossi, Chiellini....)

It's hard enough to beat this Spanish team when you have everyone healthy and well-rested, it's no surprise that Italy couldn't get it done.

Congrats to Spain for a historical three-peat but please someone has go to knock them off at the next World Cup.

As I'm writing this I'm having flashbacks of Cristiano Ronaldo shooting over the spanish net like 8 times when he could have given Portugal the win....AAAAARRGGGGHHHH

I'm in New York . Was at the Spiderman broadway show during the game... I had the UEFA app giving me updates... I'm glad I didn't watch the game cause it would have hurt too much. I feel bad for players like Pirlo and Buffon. Not sure we will see them at the World Cup in 2014, depending if they are in shape for it or not...
Felicidades a Espana... They deserved to win as much as that pains me.... We move on.
Well I'm happy for Alonso, wins the Euro GP and his country are world soccer champs... Hopefully he will give us another win at the British GP.

That was painful to watch. The Azzurri were tired, both mentally and physically and you can`t beat the Spaniards when you`re not 100%.

Congratulations to Spain and doing what you do best, play amazing soccer.

For the Italians......they gave us hope, impressed us and seem to have started a new era of Italian soccer.
