Acording to the special features of the DVD, this was only one of two 355 spiders in the US at the time.

I think I watched that movie scene 1200 times, incredible chase, didn't they have to total 2 replicas to make it happen? 10 years later my dream came true and got my spider, what a car.

they only used the replicas in the window crash and the final crushing scene. I real one was used for the actual close ups and driving action. In the documentary that i saw of the making of it, the stunt driver who drove it and the director were very nervous about driving it because it was only one of two at the time.
EDIT I now remember were i saw the stunt drivers footage. It was in a UK tv show called !TVs greatest car chases".

I bet the hand in scene is not Nick cages, he knows about Ferrari. I recon its some crew member used for the scene who hasnt a clue how to "drive stick" as they say in America.

LOL. Nice catch. Do you suppose that's because he knew the shift from 1st-2nd in a cold Ferrari would be a real beyotch? :D

Sadly I thought this post was about "The Rock", aka Dwayne Johnson. I was thinking what movie was he in way back when there would only be two 355s in the country? Glad I was wrong, I much prefer the movie over the wrestler.

    Cool scene.

    P.S.

Can you smell what The Rock is cooking!? :D

You are correct the fiero replica was used in the crash & crush and a real one was used for the other scenes. There were more than 2 cars in the US at that time however. The car in the movie was a new F355 spider, supplied by FNA and delivered to Ferrari of San Francisco. I was working there at the time and helped load it into a trailer to be delivered to the film location. Funny thing was, the guy that picked it up, previously worked with the Magnum PI crew... They kept the car for quite a long time and when it came back it was pretty beat... We also supplied parts for the fiero build. Word has it that James Bond was responsible for some of the beating....

I'd like to "bump" this thread.

4 years later, does anyone know where the 355 ended up and who owns it? The Rock is my favorite movie of all time, and one day I'd love to own this exact car.

Nicholas Cage's F 355 came up for sale on ebay last year. Trying to remember the color, though I think it was Grigio. Phil Hartman's white spider came up for sale as well. Too bad Disney blocked the YOUTUBE vid you posted...

Not looking for his personal car, but rather the yellow F355 used in the movie filming.

In the special features on that films DVD, it said that the yellow 355 spider used was one of only two in the US at the time of filming IIRC. I am quite sure NC owned it to, but unless I check the DVD I can't give a 100% accurate confirmation on ownership.

New information on one of the replica cars http://australianmusclecarsales.com.au/muscle/75608-ferrari-f355-replica
