Thats good news!
Now that the alternator is fixed, the last part of the charging system is the volt regulator. Once again, the US version is different from the Euro version. My way of adding a modern VR is to slightly modify the unit available from Superformance. The new VR is missing a ground wire terminal which the ancient US version has. The Euro version grounds to the casing. I've decided to leave the original US unit in the "red case", (which works) in place and zip tie the new VR to the red case under the dash. Then simply connect the wires to the new unit which I've added a grounding terminal to. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
It's immensely satisfying to complete this alternator, oil leak, waterhose segment of the journey. Quite a *****, but it's done. Today she runs great and charges! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks for the suggestion. Mine works fine, just thought I'd leave it in place for originality and hook up the modern one next to it.
After a nice vacation, I continued to improve the Dino today. Continuing to replace old rubber hoses. Breather hoses done ! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Nothing major lately, but I changed the fuel filter today and have been getting all the parts for a suspension rebuild. I'll be having the original date stamped Konis rebuilt. My car never came with a fuel filter, so a previous owner added one "in line". I replaced it today, not knowing how long it had been on the car. I also sawed the old one apart for inspection. Oil cooler lines out. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find a source for rebuilding these, so I'm going with the steel braided hoses from Superformance. Image Unavailable, Please Login
New wheel bearings arrived from Italy today via Ferrari Parts Exchange. I've used them twice now and both times items arrived promptly. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Nice work! I have had some lines repaired/custom made by a company called Pirtek. They have vans and come to you. Might be worth a try on freshening up your original hoses.
Thanks for replying. That's funny because Pirtek is the company I went to. The crimp pieces were all wrong. The labor of love continues and it should be back on the road with a fully rebuilt suspension within a week.
