Here's a clip from The Pink Panther movie(1963) where a silver 250 Cabriolet Series II(i think that is correct), is featured. Did they really destroy this car in the crash scene? Another note too, they seemed to have incorrectly matched the Ferrari airhorn audio with the tiny red car.

Silver/red LHD 250 GT Cabriolet series II. Assuming the interior/exterior colors are original, this could be s/n: 1561, 2449, 3057 or 3179.

By the way, the "crash" takes place off-camera and the "accident damage" looks faked to me. Bent hood could be anything - front wheel removed and set at an angle to appear as if it has broken loose.

Recently saw a few clips and would say that the crash scene was faked by removing bonnet and front wheel from the car. Would also say that it was an early car, but not 1561 (as sometimes claimed). Best wishes, Kare

Taking that this car really has an early Pininfarina Coupe style dash (a radio can be seen installed on dash...?) and that the colors really are grigio conchiglia 16249 with red interior we get serial numbers:

1821-1835-1879-1911-1941-1947-1969-2013-2057-2085-2133-2143-2147. 1817 was also that color, but had side vents. As most of these cars were sold in Europe, it is getting very difficult to identify this car. Best wishes, Kare

The crash sceen definitely was "staged". There is no fottage of an actual crash. My guess is the car was very carefull lifted into position with a reproduction crashed hood installed. and then the scene was shot. I have the film in my video collection and have watched it many times. The car looks like a series I or II 250 Cabriolet and I am sure it is the joy of some rightful owner. Just one man's opinion. I had 2039 which was originally silver with red interior. I don't know which silver it was though.

Grigio fumo MM16672 with rosso 3171, so the original color was dark metallic grey. Best wishes, Kare

    Hi all,

I don't know if it is of any help but once I was seeing the Pink Panther movie I noted down the number plate which I identified as the Swiss plate VD 4267 (with a question mark). This was visible in another scene in the film than the one on the piazza, of course.

    Regards,

    Michael

It is most probably 1879 GT.
The same car was also used for movie stills with Audrey Hepburn and for that it had normal Roma license plates, see Audrey Hepburn thread in Showroom section.
    Both cars grey with red.

I know this thread is old but barchetta lists this 1835GT as being the car in the movie. Not saying it is correct, but it seems to be one of the possibles.
