I'm in for one of these cars, but honestly not excited by the photos, esp in red. Black looks good, and I don't like black typically. At least it sounds good from the track video above. At my office today, everyone got a huge laugh out of the name, declaring the LaFerrari now safe as the second dumbest name.
Don't listen to those fools. It's a historic name for Ferrari fans. Black could be cool. Maybe dark blue like Pozzi Blue...? It's got the flattering qualities of a dark color like black however a bit more complexity and depth.
What about the inevitable challenge rear grill in carbon? Will be attractive IMO! Front design and rear are already a nice contrast to the F12!
I like it. There is something quite american about the front and rear while quite italian about the side profile. It's aggressive yet classy old school and about 0.5 generation ahead of the game so it will probably mature into quite a great design in about 1 or 2 years. I look forward to seeing real pics plus some great specs.
I think the rear of the 821 looks better than the F12, but it's the opposite for me when it comes to the front where the F12 is more interesting with the hood crevasse and the side intake holes similar to what my Modena has. But having said that, if someone handed me the keys of either, I would be ecstatic and over the moon

Judging by the comparison pics between the F12berlinetta and the 812 Superfast from posts #70, #71, #204 and #205, my opinion is that there is "too much going on" on the new Ferrari (despite I have never really liked the F12's uterus). A few of my thoughts on the 812, as follows: FRONT LOWER END: It looks just fine, except the classic grill is missing. The new mesh grill should have been just an (expensive) option with some sort of "track-pack". FRONT HEADLIGHTS: The protruding/elongated parts towards the center are overdone. It looks like an alien. Also the air intakes close to the headlights are misplaced (they should have been somewhere on the engine cover). BACK: As someone here already stated, it looks too boxy if compared to the lines all around the car. I was a big fan of the twin tail lamps and I was very sad when they let them go. Now I'm even sadder to see them reappear, at least in this shape and form. There is too much going on here as well: too many lines. SIDE: It works. It flows. I find this part the only evolution if compared to the F12berlinetta. Maybe they should have "dug" a bit more in order to highlight even better the side "muscles". I don't like the odd FIAT PUNTO side indicators. PLEASE FERRARI EVOLVE TO LED LIGHTS IN THE SIDE MIRRORS OR SOMEWHERE ELSE! WHEELS: I don't like the standard wheels, neither the F12 TDF wheels as an option. The option wheels on the F12berlinetta looked much cleaner. Also the wheels on the J50 are MUCH MUCH BETTER and sharper looking >>> those are a true masterpiece of design. INTERIOR: Oh that ugly misproportioned steering wheel... CONCLUSIONS: Ferrari clearly lost that Pininfarina charm. FINAL ADVICE TO F12 OWNERS: Last Ferrari drawn by Pininfarina: do I really have to write anything more? Hope someone will notice this post. Cheers guys!
I respect your opinion, but I disagree. Especially with regard to both internal and external proportions it is necessary to see the car in the flesh. For example, it was posted a photo of private preview and noticed that resembles very much in the volumes to 365GTB/4 Daytona. This similarity or citation is not clear from published minimally rendering
Lo scambio di opinioni è sempre ben accetto. Saluti dalla Croazia! Translation: An exchange of views is always welcome. Greetings from Croatia!
I like the 812 from some angles. From others it looks too much like a Viper or Corvette mashed together. The best part is it will bring F12 prices down...which to me was an instant classic upon release.
I've ordered mine, yet to spec it... a little confused as what combo I'll go with As with everything new, it'll grow on us.
.... and we're still talking about CGI images. Let's see the car in the flesh before debating too much about proportions. As with all great Ferrari's, seeing them in real life is so much differnet then on a computer screen. The lines and shapes mostly don't seem to work on screen versus real life. Besides, with increased performance comes increased aerodynamics. Have a look at the Aston Martin DB01 if you want to see the future of hypercar design.
Love Giallo Triplo as all my Ferrrari's have been Giallo.... but the new Red seems tempting (but so standard)
Many say that some of the new aesthetics of the 812 take time to absorb and to start liking as it happened with other past models evolutions and may be that's the case. I've always been an unconditional admirer of Pininfarina designs and when I read long ago a long interview with Flavio Manzoni (Ferrari chief design) about the F12b design it really called my attention the fact that he didn't mention Pininfarina and kind of put the major credits on himself and his team. Despite of that when we look at the F12b we recognize in the lines and details the genius of the master and since that interview, for me it has been very clear that Manzoni wanted to break away from Pininfarina style at any cost and impose his own Ferrari mark in order to become the future. I don't dislike the 812 but I think Manzoni will have to continuo trying because it's clear that on his own this time he didn't supersede at all the master's original achievement.
