While carnutvic is lamenting the loss of a hot Europa, I am contemplating my next purchase.

    The criteria:

    1. At or under $95k. ($100k sounds like a lot).

    2. Sound good.

    3. Fast.

    4. Stunningly beautiful (or seriously stylish).

    5. Special.

    6. Somewhat "focused" and "empirical"...no CL65s, no NAV systems or Makeup Mirrors.

Actual equipment is less important than overall "experience". I want something that can scare the ish out of me and make me want to eat steak when I hear it idle.

Any thoughts? Feel free to get abstract...I know what a Fantuzzi 275 is.

    :)

    LS

PS-I balance my own checkbook. So I can't justify something like a C6 Z06 that will be worth $30k in 18mos.

Holm, 911s are very nice. Especially black ones. :) I love the heritage that Porsche has in racing.

A GT3 could be interesting...I need some noise and "attitude". I'm thinking more "rollcage" and less "automatic climate control".

i think the porsche would be good too. two other cars i can think of are the dodge viper(a very raw and focused car)
    or
c5 Z06, which has already depreciated.

PHF, Now we're talkin'...Vipers meet all of the criteria...dark colored GTS or RT with some big pimpin' polished rims.

GoMifune, Panteras are excellent...180 degree headers and some Wilwoods.

    Potentials:

    Viper
    Pantera

    Anybody else???

I like that idea...the 965 was/is hot. And the lag combined with 2wd would surely provide some full body sweat moments in the rain on the Whitehurst Freeway.

Following up on Holminator's general direction and your response, how about a GT3? It's got serious "attitude"!

I like the GT3 idea...not quite what I'd call beautiful styling though.

I could do the Impala only if it was a 409-4spd!

I like the Noble idea, can't beat the lbs/hp. There are quite a few cars of that type available...Factory Five is making a kit using a Vette drivetrain.

The Exige would be interesting. I drove an Elise recently, pretty cool, too much revving to get anything done though. Didn't sound all that great.

Oooo. I think I like the Noble idea best. I wonder what kind of teething/service issues you would have long term?

Can you imagine parking a black Noble with no muffler and blistered Hoosiers in DK's illegal parking space at Spank?? Hot!

    Like what?

I've seen early ones with a few miles hover around $92k

A bit quiet, but the torque makes up for that.
Faster than you'd want to go in a stately home.
    I think it is timeless.
You will not see yourself out on a two hour ride in the country side.
Refined, but not in the BMW/MB sort of way.

Seems like it meets your needs minus a screaming motor...
