    Nice gesture or are they running low on $? The costs of that care must be exponential.

    My understanding is that the foundation does not directly support Michael's ongoing healthcare. From the website:

    Keep Fighting is a non-profit initiative that is celebrating the attitudes to “Keep Fighting” and “Never Give Up” which are directly inspired by Michael Schumacher. The Foundation is registered in Germany and operates globally through its projects.

    Further, the announcement states:

    A portion of the proceeds from the auction of F2002 chassis #219 by RM Sotheby's will go to the Schumacher family's Keep Fighting, Never Give Up Foundation.

    No indication of where the rest of the proceeds will be directed. But that's not our decision to make.

    Thoughts and prayers to Michael and his family.

    Don't you think that the fortune that Schumacher amassed throughout his life is more than enough to sustain whatever costs of his health care is?

    It most certainly is plenty and more than enough . Reality is , almost anyone else in Michael’s shoes would not be alive at the present , irrelevant of his physical state

    thought to be on the order of $300M
    this depends on the amount of care he is requiring. But with $300M to start with, one should be able to make 5%/year (minimum) and break even {$1.5M}

    I bet he is still earning millions through image rights and the like... I think £300million is an underestimation, his income did not stop at all since 1992

    5% on 300M (I read it was 800M) is a ton of money for health care.

    Obviously we are not talking to mere mortal here but even him, as a resident of Switzerland, is obliged to have health insurance by law and in an extreme case, where his private house treatment would have to be terminated, his costs would be capped and the rest covered by the insurance company.

    Private health care treatment as he receives it in Switzerland is autonomously expensive. Especially since the pricing is neither regulated nor capped.

    Just to be clear, F2002 #219 DOES NOT belong to Michael Schumacher or his family.

    And? What’s your point? It’s being auctioned for the benefit of the charity

    AS still believe that Michael must have had a huge insurence policy, so i believe a big part of that health care is payed by the insurance company!

    The question was whether they need money... so when the car does not belong them they will not get some, so the argument becomes irrelevant
