Several members of the Ferrari Club of America DFW Chapter took an explorative road trip to scout out way points for upcoming driving events.

Thanks to Chris W and his wife Jennifer W for spending over a year putting together a route, accommodations, activities, and more! The amount of effort they put into this past week is greatly appreciated.

I expect an after action report to share by next week and will get it posted here for everyone to enjoy!

In the meantime, here are many of our stops along the way:

Dove Creek Café in Roanoke Tx : https://www.dovecreekcafe.com/
The perfect breakfast spot to start off our exploration of all things Texas !

    Hard 8’s in Stephenville Tx : https://hardeightbbq.com/location/stephenville/
While we enjoy many of the different BBQ offerings in the DFW area, this location is one of our favorites when we can’t make it down to Lockhart, Tx!

Dublin Bottling Works in Dublin Tx : http://www.dublinbottlingworks.com/
Previously Dr Pepper, still a great place to take a break, try a sampler of their many offerings, but warning you will leave with a sugar high!

Market Scratch Kitchen in Georgetown Tx : https://2020marketgtx.com/
Nice, semi-casual spot, everything on the menu was excellent, with unique offerings across the board!

Monument Café in Georgetown Tx : https://www.themonumentcafe.com/
If you don’t know, you SHOULD know.. I’ve personally been stopping in for over 30 years… get there early!

Alamo Springs Café outside Fredericksburg Tx : http://alamospringscafetx.com/
Another spot that you have to know is there or you would never find it just driving though the area… BEST Burgers in Texas!

Camp Wood Café in Camp Wood Tx : https://campwoodcafe.com/
Who has driven through Camp Wood Texas before? If you do, do yourself a favor and stop in for a bite.. everything prepared fresh, so they may run out!

The Local Fix in Uvalde Tx : https://thelocalfix.com/
Nice local breakfast stop, lots of healthy to not healthy options!

Oasis Café in Marathon Tx : https://oasiscafe.business.site/
When your first option isn’t an option anymore because they sold out of food for the day, The Oasis Café makes for a nice back up! Complete with a Styrofoam cup and toothpicks sticking out of it with the menu options on it, that you spin around to help you make your mind up!

    Lajita’s Golf Resort in Lajita’s Tx : https://www.lajitasgolfresort.com/
In the middle of nowhere Texas, this little oasis of a resort is absolutely worth the trip, even if you fly into their local airstrip!

Starlight Theatre in Terlingua Tx : http://www.thestarlighttheatre.com/
Have you ever seen the Quentin Tarantino movie from "Dusk Till Dawn"? Well, that’s the feeling you get when you pull into the dirt parking lot… once inside you get sensory overload of years past, all the menu items were fantastic, with a few unexpected and unique items that I am told were “off the hook" good!

12 Gage Restaurant at the Gage Hotel in Marathon, Tx …by way of Presidio, Tx and Marfa, Tx: http://gagehotel.com/dining/12-gage-restaurant/
The small steak restaurant next to the famous Gage Hotel.. also, worth the drive if not for the steaks, but for the classically trained wait staff that sang opera and show tunes between each course of the meal!

Perini Ranch Steakhouse in Buffalo Gap,Tx : https://www.periniranch.com/steakhouse/
Getting closer to home, Perini Ranch in Buffalo Gap… another well-kept local secret that never fails to deliver…. Starters to die for, fire grilled steaks the way they are supposed to be prepared, sides and desserts that make it easy for you to start planning for your next reservation there, even before you’ve left!

The Gap Café in Buffalo Gap Tx : https://www.periniranch.com/the-gap-cafe/
The best place to finish off a week long Texploration for breakfast… just be sure to get there early, as they prepare each item from scratch, and have been known to run out of almond croissants in the middle of ordering… BUT… the sticky buns easily make up for it!

    When, what?

We just got back from THIS trip , we were gone all last week....7 days on the road

WHEN are we going to do it again? 2021, maybe early 2022... we are all still recuperating from so many miles in such a short time

We will absolutely share it with the group as we circle back around!

Next time! The drive down is better suited for GT cars.... but once you get there... Ferrari ALL the way!
