A friend of mine with a sportscar showroom in a "better" part of LA told me the Harley-Davidson showroom across the street was looted. Whilst boarding up the place the staff asked the police on scene what protection they can offer for tomorrow. The answer was..... "your on your own buddy, but its OK to use your own guns." Is this a normal civilised country, leader of the free world ??

It's not normal, because "progressive" law enforcement allows violent criminals to control the streets in poor areas. Antifa violent protestors and the looters who trail in their wake have no fear of being arrested. Yet we know how to solve the core problem, as demonstrated by mayor Rudy Giuliani who had a dramatic effect on all forms of criminal activity with his "no broken windows" policies in New York in the 90's. Subsequent Democrat administrations have walked back those policies and NYC crime is increasing. Low crime rates make life better and safer for black people too. What I find racist is the patronising attitude of the left, that black people require special concessions. Black, white, anglo, asian, hispanic - offenders should be vigorously pursued and removed from society, not regarded as "victims" of imagined "privilege".
There's a thread somewhere in Silver with an article written by a police trainer (ex military himself) which talks about the militarisation of the US police force and how it has devolved into viewing citizens as 'the enemy'. I think that's a large part of what we're seeing; together with that section of the community who're always just itching for a confrontation. And I'm certainly not seeing just black protesters behaving badly - seems to be a fairly good number of redneck whites as well.
