As a periodic addiction, I have to visit Erwin's blog out of the Netherlands on a routine basis (Ferrari 400) since he steadfastly documents all things Ferrari 365 GT4 2+2/400/412. With an apology to him as he found this article a few weeks ago, I am introducing it to this forum for those that have not seen this radical monster before:

    Forgeline: Welcome to Forgeline Motorsports

Essentially, it is the world's first and only Ferrari 575, V-12 engined 400i in existence with a Tremec 6 speed! They managed to shave 1400 lbs off the donor 400, add custom center-lock Forgeline wheels, and boy - talk about execution to a very high standard certain to be polarizing!

I have not been able to track down shots of the interior, but certain that it was carried as flawlessly as the exterior. From a styling perspective, the exposed headlights resemble the Competition Daytona's, as do the Gold wheels to make it look similar to the last pic I attached.

Some of the 575 styling cues carry over, besides the engine, including the rearview mirrors, the hood bulge/air scoop, and the twin air intakes just past the front wheels. This is certainly an interesting beast and surprised that it has not yet been featured in a magazine... Your thoughts?

Bet it goes like the clappers. The 575 motor would be fab in a 400! I quite like the headlights too.

Ok, how do you "shave" 1400lbs out of a car that weighs 4000lbs?

Nasty. Tasteless. And completely missing the point of how and why the 365/400 was designed and built it the first place.

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

This is clearly the most pimped out 400 of all time.

I question the weight reduction too. You could leave out the tranny and it would not lose 1400 lbs. Someone out there might know the weight difference between the 400 and the 575 motor, that is likely more than the difference in the tranny. Other items to jetison: AC, rear seats, ??

It's obviously no longer street legal. Was it built for 1/4 mile drags?
Looks like lots of things have had to go to lose the weight. Not even a windscreen wiper!

I wouldn't think dragging it with that gearbox.

Re the weight, you wouldn't know what the panels were made of,how much of the interior has been changed.what the windows are, apart from the front screen.

The rollcage would also have to come into consideration in the weight stakes.

I'd love to see a detailed report and more pics.

The point is people buy the special high performance versions of cars and spend thousands of dollars and the car weighs like 150lbs less.

TH350 and TH400 have been the workhorses of drag racing for 40 years. Shift kits and torque converters can do wonder for the slush box.

If you're gonna do a resto-mod on a vintage Ferrari, that's certainly a good direction.

Much better than the scrapyard, too.

If I have mine for long enough my plan is to put a 700R4 with a higher stall torque and probably a lock-up. Much better 1st gear ratio and engine rpm to get better power.
