Maserati is dominating the list! On the bright side, its sort of a good thing if you want to buy used! Image Unavailable, Please Login https://www.zerohedge.com/personal-finance/which-cars-depreciate-fastest
I was at car collector party over the weekend, where there were many high end collectors; almost each & every one of them had a Ferrari of some sort in their stash. But I found it interesting in a conversation with one proud Porche SUV owner. He claimed that he was very interested in the Maserati SUV, but that the dealer support was very lacking. Whereas the Porche dealer simply loaned him another Porche SUV when his came in for service, the Maserati did not. Shame.
My I kindly correct you reg. correct spelling: its a Porsche and not a "Porche". Numerous Le Mans victories and fantastic GT-cars needs to be respected, no...?
that is the issue i’ve been saying for 10 years. The vast majority of Maserati (and Alfa) dealers are from the CDJR network as is their management. There are very few Maserati/Ferrari dealers left. Another issue is that vast majority of vehicles at that level are leased, i was running 90% lease at the dealership.
What is the CDJR network? Is it part of the Fiat dynasty, which has all but vanished here in California, leaving owners high & dry for parts & service.
Seeing almost new MC20s on BaT not making reserve bid to not more than $210-$215k these days gives me hope I can snap one up in the low $100k range in a few years.
What I find either sad or funny, not sure which, is that Stellantis has the whole gang under the same umbrella. Renault, the grim reaper of Citroen and Maserati, are all in bed together. Not sure which is more irrelevant now, Renault or Citroen... Maserati has hope with a younger generation due to their involvement in Formula E electric racing now, the greenies like that for some reason but I'm not sure how long that series will last, it's so boring.
The greenies don't really like or watch racing much. Their time is better spend protesting against something Formula E was run in big population centers to attract a big audience. If left on it's own at a regular race track the attendance would have been pathetic.
I don't mean to insult any Maserati owners, but every modern (circa post 1990) Maserati I have ever been in has been a complete utter mess. Looks good, sounds good, but drives like a brick on two overinflated tires, one flat tire, and another tire that's underinflated. There's a reason no one wants them new (see MC20) and why they are as easy to offload on the resale market as ice cubes in Alaska.
For what it is worth, I drive a 2012 GranTurismo S coupe as my daily driver and absolutely love it. Ivan
I test drove an MC20 and it is a great car .... more fun to drive than a 'C8 Z06', on first impressions.
I was looking at a 2004 Maserati Coupe on BaT. I contacted my regional dealer, Ziegler Maserati. Per their service department, they would not service this Maserati at their dealership. The reason is that they do not receive current bulletins from Maserati on this car. There is no guarantee that Maserati can supply parts for this car. My local Porsche dealer still services my 968. Parts may take a week or two, but they don't turn me away.
the issue is most Maserati dealers are from the CDJR network, they don’t have the techs, tools or background to service the cars. Go to the nearest Ferrari dealership or independent Ferrari shop that services 360/430s
Stellantis is assassinating Maserati and Alfa Romeo in the US. Fiat Chrysler just bought Chrysler/Jeep/Ram for the dealerships. In five years the Stellantis controled vehicle support and service will begin to completely abandon all the Italian marques unless EV. It is going to take another DeTomaso and the Italian government to save was is left of the Italian car industry. But Italian cars must always have a real ICE motor. EVs are like sex while wearing a condon...no real man will accept that.
I think hybrids are the best solution ... especially once the battery technology improves using things like 'Graphene'.
I think hybrid will be the real solution especially with the electric grids we have in the USA. They won't be able to handle the millions of cars and trucks they are asked to by the present administrations for many years, well beyond the mandate time frames. I was also thinking about racing if EV completely took over. They could start the Autonomous Electric Auto Racing League. People wouldn't go to tracks anymore, just watch it on TV until it was completely gone. Greenies think it's a waste of resources anyway
I give you, the Chrysler TC by Maserati. Image Unavailable, Please Login Stellantis [Chrysler] couldn't **** up Maserati twice, could they?
Surely Bentley come somewhere in the top 10 fastest depreciating cars. They will be a bit pissed off you haven't included them in the list.
That was Iaccoca's pet project and DeTomaso desperately wanted the cash. I was there in 86 in Modena for the anniversary celebration of Maserati and Iaccoca showed up at the awards dinner at the Canale Grande. There were Carabinieri everywhere with uzis. Of course at that time they were at the airports because of terrorism and Iaccoca was a potential presidential candidate. Us Americans got relegated to the basement and missed the entire show! By 87 the cars were plenty good enough by the Chrysler dealers screwed everything up. The TC was embarrassing but I don't think that's what sent Maserati packing in 1990. They had far too many 84,85 and 86 Biturbo coups and sedans that they couldn't by law straighten out. I fixed mine but they weren't allowed to do what I did. DeTomaso was under capitalized and brought the cars over before they were sorted out. He did the same thing with the Mangusta and the Pantera.
