A friend swears to me that it has a 3.0 liter engine. As far as I know it has a 2936 cc engine, which is a 2.9 liter in my book.

Someone help back me up on this one. :)

Yerp, i used to think they were 3.0 but that was long time ago when i wasnt a member of this fantastic forum.

I've borrowd this from 410SA in the other thread (F40 Pricing when new)
(sorry if you didn't want it posted here mate)

In that picture it clearly states that the engine size is 2.936cc

Does your mate want any more proof?

That's funny because it also says 3.0 Liter under the gas mileage info. No wonder people get confused. :)

    hello,

2936 cc's = 2.9 liters. the 512 TR was actually 4.9 liters. but i guess the marketing folks at maranello didn't think "ferrari 4.9 12 TR" had the right sound to it :)

I got a book on the F40 the other day and in it states a 2936 cc engine, but refers to its as a 3.0L

It is commonly mistaken for that.

2936 cc is not rounded up, but down, hence why it is a 2.9 liter.

Funny thing: a (288) GTO is actually also a 2.9 liter engine (2855 cc).

50 or higher gets rounded up....36 is down. How it works in this industry.
