IMO the EUROPEAN section is going to die slowly and
the different languages sections within the EU section are growing.
    - Dutch speaking
    - Portuguese speaking
    - Spain speaking
    - French speaking
    - German speaking
    - Italian speaking
Sometimes, when I go thru the different languages section I see wonderful Ferrari pics, but sadly can not read, understand or contribute to this thread.
I think its a a wonderful idea to have different languages here and it attracks new users to join in here!!!
But the european community feeling and idea get lost.
Its always and only a little group - again, not bad and a brilliant idea.
But lets talk about Ferraris in the main european section and in english.
Smal talk, daily stuff....a.s.o. should still stay in the different languages thread for the fun.
All meetings, drive outs, european fchat rallys, friendships.....all this wonderful things happened cause we typed in english and found together here.

    Whats you opinion?

This could become an interesting thread! Wolfgang and I have discussed this already many times before. Should we not make it a poll? It could change the future of the Euro section for ever! :)
Please feel free to give your comments or remarks. Everybodies opinion is welcome. Your's too!

BTW, the Spain section was and is IMO the one and only accepted exception - a wonderful huuuuuge community from the first day on.

    Ton,
I have thought about a poll; but still can not find the right words/capabilities to vote. Please help and add a poll with 2 or 3 options to vote.
(Spain should still and always stay as it is, IMHO!)

That is not true my friend! It was definitely not an exception. We also agreed on a German forum remember. A few years back we decided that everybody should have a "right" (typical European) to speak in his own language. I remember that you were a very active member within the German thread. Unfortunately the german thread has died. The Spanish thread has always been an excellent example of perfect chat behaviour.

But I agree with you that the Euro section has become very scattered. I personally (as you know) have no problem with the different language threads. This forum is in my opinion not different from the real EU.
When do we start to speak one national language in Europe? Ha ha.
But I am very curious to hear what other people think about this question. I think that it is the best question that has arisen on this forum in the last six months.

Please give your opinion. But also tell us why you think in a certain way.

    :)

I think it's good the way it is now. I like to have a section to talk my own language, even if it's about Ferrari's. There are enough good topics in the European section I think but maybe it would be better to post more pics/stories of events/meetings in the European section (something that I don't often do)

And eugh... The Dutch section isn't more alive then the European section ;)

I think it works ok the way it is.
I agree with Wolfgang, it has been quieter in the main euro forum since we've had the other threads but that seems to be the way people want it. The dutch thread is another one that has really taken off lately.

same for british section (too much sub thread), but they must to incorporate European section and not really like a Continent Australia or Canada....it s my point of view.

    regional aeras international:
    Asia
    Australia
    Latin America
    Europe ->European community
    each countries? great the dilemma.

some countries exist today, some of them are important sections
like: Dutchland,Netherlands,Spain ...most people, like me, doesn t have
a perfect English may be in middle period they ll be out of this forum..
but it s thrue too, if the communauties increase it will be have people
souldn t have the opportunity to improve their English and most important
they ll be not communicated with others people communauties.

i m definitvely for a big European communauty, including, ,SP,D,FR,UK,NL,S,I,B,DK.... it s time to start.

I agree with the fact that multiple language threads are not really neccessary and that they divide the European section too much in separate parts. After all, the general language of this site is off course english. I would have no problem with it at all if the language threads would dissapear. It would help make the section more clear and united.

However, I understand why people would like to keep those native threads... not everyone writes/understands fluent English... it's often easier to express yourself in your own language. A lot of people only seem to visit their own language thread for some reason. I'm affraid a lot of people would be exluded from the board this way.

BTW, there was a time that those language threads were stimulated... both the spanish and german threads were running well those days and french, italian, dutch,... came to live. This attracted a lot of new users... what will happen if those threads dissapear?

    Christian,

You definitely have a point. But English has always been the main language within this section. The question is if we should allow different languages to be spoken within this forum.
This discussion has been a hot topic in this section before. At that time we decided that we would allow different languages ONLY in the specific language threads.

Ha ha! But that option would not take us somewhere does it? What would we do if the majority would vote for that option?

I am still very curious to the results of this poll.

    Can I use a joker? :D

Seriously, I'm leaning towards "only English" but I would regret it if some people would stay away because of that...

On the other hand, seems it's not a problem for the rest of the world to use only English, why should Europe be an exeption? They're not talking chinese, thai, japanese, aso in the Asian section either... it works there... but off course, I believe the Asian F-Chat community is smaller... maybe just because of the language problem?

I think it's a bit stupid to talk ALWAYS English with people who can talk your own language. Sounds strange to me.

Correct, that is strange :) but I undertstand fe Wolfgang's point too that friends who speak a different language could feel "excluded" that way.

However, Wolfgang, you didn't seem to have a problem with that when the German thread was still going strong? ;):D

    Gie spast :D

You see, sometimes it's better to talk you own language to express your emotions better.

    No offence Alex! ;) :)
