Wings take advantage of Bernoulli"s principle governing relation of pressure on a surface to the velocity of fluid over that surface - basically the faster air travels over a surface the lower the pressure on that surface. A wing's cross section is shaped such that air travels without detaching at a much higher velocity on the top surface relative to air velocity on the bottom surface, thus creating a pressure differential which generates lift. For cars, the wing is upside down so you get downforce instead of lift.

The flap on the LF is not a wing at all. It makes downforce by taking advantage of Newton's 3rd law - the flap pushes on air and the air pushes back with equal force.

Now I've long wondered which principle or law of Physics the wings of F1 cars are designed to follow, in particularly the rear wings. Considering the angle of the trailing edge which is close to vertical, it appears they are using Newton's law rather than Bernoulli's principle. This could be the case with the P1 wing too, judging by it's trailing edge. If this is the case the lower surface of the wing isn't much help at all and the wing behaves more like a flap albeit a raised one, the advantage being it gets to meet with more air.

About 20 years ago, Pepsi had developed a "clear" soft drink. Pepsi Clear was about to hit the market, and the Pepsi guys were ecstatic. They had all types of campaigns ready to go, including ones where clear drinks were more healthy.

Coke sensed trouble. They had not developed a clear soft drink and Pepsi was about to take a quantum leap over them. They couldn't beat Pepsi, but they could torpedo it.

Coke then pulled its "Tab" brand off the shelf and developed a clear soft drink. The geniuses at Coke told the brand manager to "make the Tab taste like piss." He was dumbfounded.

"Why make it taste like urine?" Because the public was skeptical about clear drinks having a good taste. So Coke rushed this product to the stores waaay ahead of Pepsi. Coke spent less than $25 million making and marketing Tab Clear.

    It was a dismal failure.

But, in reality it was a huge success. By getting Tab Clear to the market and making it taste like urine, the public was greeted to the generic stories "Clear drinks taste like pee."

Pepsi's $400 million investment in Pepsi Clear was worthless after that.

I don't remember what it tastes like, but I liked Pepsi Clear. And maybe because I was young, I didn't even know there was Tab Clear. Who the hell drinks Tab anyways?:D

As Quail 2013 hasn't happen yet it would hard to get a photo of both cars there at this time so I used ones from stock.

I'll be trying to make it out to Monterey again this year, it would be a dream come true to see those beauties in the flesh. Seeing as Quail tickets are quite expensive for a guy like me, any chance the pair would be making their way to Concorso or perhaps Carmel by the Sea at some point during the weekend?

Could you comment a little about the design of the wheels.

What is the design a reference to? (Is there any Bertone style?)

How do they compare in terms of size and weight and strength with the Enzo?

They are a Hommage to the 330 P 3/4 Campagnolo wheels. They are also bigger than Enzo wheels as we wanted to increase traction and fit better tires. They were crash tested as required and are very strong and light. They are made out of a solid billet on a 5 axis CAD milling machine.
