Fascinating to see them side by side…thanks for posting! I really like how they deleted the air intake around the lights and how they lined up the front hood cut line with the lights on the C. I am guessing more access to cooling elements up front? Love the trío….and jealous of the C
OK - Some More Feedback: I've now got a decent amount of more miles and experience with the car, so I thought I'd update my original comments. I still feel this is an extraordinary car. Looks and feels very special. A real treat to drive it. Someone asked on the thread about comparisons to the TDF. I have not had a TDF for some time, so cannot make comments based on simultaneously driving them, but from my recollection of the TDF, this car (for me), seems much easier to drive in "normal roads and circumstances". It can be quite civilized when you want it that way, yet very raucous and racy when you hammer it. The TDF felt more twitchy, on the edge. This feels like and 812 coupe turned up to 11. My TDF was Rosso Fuoco, so it was an attention magnet. This being the more restrained silver color, can sneak by a bit easier (although the yellow stripe does garner quite a lot of attention). I mentioned in my prior post that at midrange this car did not feel noticeably stronger/quicker than the GTS. I had not yet ventured into the higher RPMs at that time. Now that it is more broken in, I did venture a tad higher (but not to redline yet, so do not know if it will go all the way to 9500 rpm, as some of you asked), and I am happy to report that the car is strong and very linear up to about 7000 rpm, then it really opens up above that point. Looses traction spontaneously at that point, and you can feel the fury of the extra horsepower very definitely at that point. So not unexpectedly with a high rpm motor, the big difference is at the very top of the range. To be clear there is no negative tradeoff at lower to mid-range rpm. I have also noticed that they have further differentiated the transmission tuning. While the GTS in Race mode has exceptionally quick downshifts, it is pretty smooth and benign on the upshifts. This car has even sharper downshifts, and very positive, more violent (in a good way - not objectionable) upshifts. It is truly extraordinary that Ferrari can make all those gears and levers move so quickly and absorb the impact of such quick, full-power shifts, without damaging anything. I'd say the sharper transmission tuning, is as big a difference to the character of the car as the engine tuning. Sound: I said before that they really improved the sound above 4000 rpm. That is definitely perhaps the most noticeable thing one notices when you get in this car after driving a GPF 812. It really is magnificent - sounds like the good old days, before GPF. However, at idle and low rpm, it makes a lot of droning sounds, and is borderline irritating in Race or Sport mode. It is a bit better in Wet mode (to be clear I never drive in wet mode, but have been clicking the manettino down to Wet at long stoplights). The car idles at 1000 rpm, vs the 650-700 for most other cars, and that causes quite a lot of the extra noise at idle and low rpm. On the other and, when cruising in 7th gear, the car is surprisingly quiet and relaxed. Paint: The launch color paint (Grigio Competizione), is spectacular. My other cars are Grigio Titanio and Grigio Nürburgring, and this paint color is so much richer. It accentuates every line, crease, and curve of the very complex body shape, and the actual quality of the finish is spectacular - zero flaws - zero orange peel. I would recommend this color to anyone considering one of the silver/grigio colors. So in summary - still a very exciting/extraordinary car. I look forward - if the weather stays good, that in a couple of weeks, we might be able to explore redline!

This car is no worse than the 812 regular Pirellis. I don't find the tramlining particularly bad, except for roads that have very noticeable depressions. (My Mustang GT500 is much worse by comparison).
Pretty sure the Pirellis on the Competizione are R (yes, for racing) rubber compound. Treadwear rating is probably 40, or 4000 mile expected tread life. Or one good track day, which I don't recommend without 5-point racing seatbelts. Can you still order the carbon fiber wheels as a spare set? Have you found the perfect seat/pedal/wheel driving position yet? Have you seen the scale model from Amalgam yet?

OK, time for the 5 month ownership update. First I have to say I am disappointed that I have not seen many (none actually) other Competizione owners posting their driving impressions. Please chip in. I am curious how other have found this spectacular car. I have been driving the car on a regular basis, often alternating between this and the 812 GTS. Everything I reported in the prior 2 postings still applies. I have now gotten close to the redline, and it does appear to go over 9000 but not reach 9500. (Happens pretty quick, so hard to see exactly where it stops). Most of my comparisons (not surprisingly) are to the GTS. Compared to the GTS, it does "feel" a tad softer in the midrange, BUT surprisingly the engine is actually smoother all the way to redline. In the GTS there are some "rough spots" in the rev range, where you sense a vibration from the engine and drivetrain, as though the driveline is protesting all the power/torque. In this car, it is turbine smooth all the way to 9000 rpm. No protest about the crazy power and high rpm. The car is definitely at its best above 7000rpm, where it really comes alive, sounds fantastic, and pulls relentlessly. I find myself primarily driving highway on/off ramps, because there you have a chance to open it up a bit safely, without causing too much commotion. In fact, while the car is perfectly tractable, and easy to drive on city streets, I find the lure of chasing the high rpm buzz too irresistible , so I seldom drive it on city streets, or slow country roads. The Comp is noticeably more stable (handles better) than the GTS. In fact, it feels like a different car. Much more planted. Corners much flatter and more securely. I think that one reason that the GTS might "feel" a bit stronger at midrange, is because the softer suspension allows it to move around a lot more (front end lifts more), so that gives you the illusion that the car is stronger. Other than loss of tire traction (that happens a lot even with the P Zero Corsa tires), the Comp is very composed when accelerating or cornering. The other big difference is the transmission tuning. The shifts, particularly in race mode, are much firmer (in a good way) than the GTS. It is actually a credit to modern "tuning flexibility" that two cars that are essentially the same, yet can be tuned to "feel" so much different. Great job by the engineers. The only significant downside to this car, is the drone at lower speed and when stopped at a light. It idles at 1000 rpm, and at long lights can be quite irritating. (I find myself shifting to Wet mode at longer lights, because the drone is noticeably worse in Race mode). Surprisingly, when driving at highway speeds, it is perfectly fine. So in conclusion, still love the car. Very happy to have both this and the GTS. For the record, while I may seem negative on the GTS in certain comparisons, I love my GTS and am very happy to own it. It is an exceptional grand touring convertible, (super fast, great handling, very comfortable), and suits me very well. OK, other Comp owners, please chip in with your observations!
Surely you received a very early allocation? In Central Florida the first C was delivered less than two months ago I believe. I’m glad the cars have distinct personalities as they should. Aside from value, which is the keeper? I know both……. BTW you have a 12 cylinder addiction problem. And may need help.
Yes, I am addicted to the V12"s I've owned a string of the 8 cylinder models (have an SF90 Spider now) , and I have loved them all, but there is just something about the Ferrari V12 at 9000rpm that a V8 just can't replace. I do plan to keep both indefinitely, as they compliment each other. Neither would be a good replacement for the other's character.
