wow. is that a new acquisition? Congrats if it is. I thought I had seen you searching. Care to share the story about how you found it? That's a great spec. I've not found anything stateside in a while in blue...
I had talked to @Robb about buying his car late last year (after years of searching for a blue manual) and although his price was fair considering how well anything he touches is sorted out, I was hesitant. I reached out to him in January I think and he wasn't selling anymore as it's irreplaceable as we can all agree. I went aggressive hunting and looking for cars off market since blue manuals on-market pretty much don't exist, don't last, or are top dollar (Stradale Vintage has some, but considering the miles they're top top dollar...maybe not so unreasonable now given what's happened to their values recently). I found this one in Japan. The owner was not a seller and the car was not advertised (this is when I went back to Robb haha) but after a few months of talking to him back and forth he agreed to sell finally. Only scenario I see myself selling it is if I found one I preferred more which is probably 0.01% chance. My estate can deal with the sale when I croak.
that's an awesome story! Thanks for sharing. I've done the same thing with porsche 964 RS' and my current cup car. I'm just dipping my toes in the 355 world, and they are just now getting old enough to import to the US easily. Over seas logistics is sketchy. And finding a place you can trust for a quality PPI in a different language in the town local to the car also has some risks. I haven't looked much in Japan. But the value of the dollar compared to the Euro and pound have not played in our favor recently...
hah, sort of sounds like my story with my blu 348. I found a pic of it on Google image search, had no idea where in the world it was. Found it in the UK and bought it. I should write up my story, I've been meaning to.
We just brought in a 964 RS from Europe for a client and funnily enough he has his eyes set on a 355 as well. I drove the 993 and 964 RS they're both fantastic cars but personally for almost half the price or less the 355 is a bargain.
I was wasting zero time as soon as he agreed to sell. Time kills deals Definitely glad to not have to be religiously hunting anymore. But I'll continue as it's a force of habit at this point and I have it down to a system now. I'd like an F1 car at as point...but no rush for that. Has to be an exciting spec.
My favorite Swaters. This car was the The Ferrari Centre in Maidstone and I saw when I flew over to look at what would become my 348. This thing was gorgeous. I absolutely loved this car. Steering wheel on the wrong side though. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
