While I imagine that there have been photos from George Barbers' magnificent motorcycle collection posted here before, here is my contribution. These were shot on Friday of the recent "Legends of Motorsports" weekend event, when consistent mid-day rain stopped on-track action and made visiting the museum a good alternative. I'm not into motorcycles much, but I was blown away by this collection! If you've never been there, go, by all means.

that was the most mind-blowing museum I've ever been to. almost every bike (and car) in the collection has massive significance to the sport or industry. It was like walking into a book on the history of motorcycles! and every bike is in working order, as well. phenomenal.

The old Lotus F1 cars were amazing, too.

If you're ever anywhere close to Bham, it's worth the trek over there.

Crazy thing about this collection is....there are just as many bikes in his collection NOT on display! I can't imagine anybody else in the WORLD who has as big and/or significant collection as this.

I was told that they actually have two 158s. The red one is the genuine article, as confirmed by Big John himself. The blue and white car is a reproduction done by the factory to Barber's order. Now this is hearsay, so I can't confirm it.

And the blue and white livery is authentic! Late in the 1964 season, Enzo Ferrari had some sort of a row with the Italian auto club, so to show his displeasure, he had the cars painted these colors for the North American rounds and the cars were officially entered by NART, which of course was Ferrari's official team in North America. So Surtees actually clinched his championship in a Ferrari that was not red!

One of the highlights of the "1700 miles in a Mondial" trip that Manny and I took was being hosted at the Barber museum by NoDoubt, Branko, John Perry, and several others. The place is mind blowing on its own merits, but I recall complete sensory overload due to being in the middle of the 3rd day of driving and having tried drink Carbon under the table the night before.

NoDoubt, the small red Cavallino badge still holds a prominent place on my fridge!

Bumping an old thread. Went to this museum yesterday...absolutely amazing. Blown away by the sheer number and quality of the bikes. And don't forget the cars there. The Surtees' Fcar was gone and is temporarily in Europe per the sign, but a miniature model sits in its place, lol.

The Dino was cool as were the Lotus F1 cars. They even have that Lotus T125 that was the F1 car sold to people for $1mm similar to Corse Clienti, but specifically made for personal use (rebuild every 4k km I think?).

Anyway, I took 400 pics, which includes every bike there (multiple bikes in one shot and not 1 pic per bike). Nearly 700 were on display by my guess.

    My favorite 5 there:

They have a 2001 Arrows A22 F1 car built from spares that sits atop the elevator in the center of the building. To get up close to it and read the sign about info on it, the elevator has to be a floor below you while you're at the glass elevator door above it. The sign said it was made from spares and is in bare carbon without a paint job.

There is some kind of 250LM body hanging on a wall in the basement in one of the photos. Likely recreation, but cool nonetheless. The 917 and Ford GT40 bodies were likely recreations as well.
