I run out east every weekend..I think I know where it happened around exit 68 to 69..
They are repaving both sides...there is a bridge in each direction that has 2 huge speed bumps..that is 2 sections of raised asphalt in a row that take you by surprise if you are not careful...I remember hitting them at 70mph...which is the max that the police will not give a ticket at....and being scared of the disruption in my suspension at that speed...
I believe it would throw any car doing over 100mph out of control...

Which likely is what happened...truly horrendous accident...the speed was to blame.

Any one else encounter this patch of speed bump???

I've been over it a few times in Fcar and my SUV. Truck handled it fine, but Fcar scared the hell out of me. It was a pretty good bump.

Yes I know the patch very well. I hit it every Friday on the way to Montauk. Just horrible how they have left it that way. I also believe that accident was due to higher than normal speed as the asphalt patch is almost sideways and throws the vehicle off a bit.
