    Hi Jerry

I think if you're going to go matte (non-polished) then I like the 512TR wheels.

If you're gonna go shiny, personally I like the chrome Speedlines. I know there is a picture of someones around that I suspect you've seen. They look great IMHO on darker colors like blues, grays and blacks.

I am a wheel guy so tend away from stock if there is something bigger that works aesthetically.

    My $.02.

    Cheers

I have to add one more to the list. Check out the Compomotive TS 3-piece. They come in 5 bolt and spline drive. This fall a set of these will find there way to my 88 TR.

Thanks - I like that style - I have seen it on chat member's 328's - Looks good - Kind of like a 288 style rim.

Also, congrats on your new TR! I think there was a thread here about it a month or so ago if I am thinking of the same one.

Thanks! Yep it's the same one from a month ago. After I sold my 456 to Byron I needed another 12 cylinder and the TR just happened to be there. It's great.

Nice - I didn't realize that you were the prior 456 owner - Byron lives about a mile from me - Small world. :)

I think those are OEM Goodyear tyres you have there. How do they look to you? Do you think you need new tyres?

Never thought I'd see my old ride in the Players Run. Can't wait 'til he posts more pics. There's probably much to be said for cruisin' down the tarmac at 145 with the windows up, the A/C on and a good stack of CDs in the changer. You arrive refreshed . . . ready to party 'til dawn (or was that with Dawn).

I usually vote stock, but my 2nd choice would be the 512TRs. As a number of people mentioned, the tires are probably the OEM Goodyear Eagles. Mine, too, were still in great shape, but I felt a bit queasy about driving around on 11 year old tires (but I did keep them just to be able to say I had the original tires).

Definitely you want a Tubi (the Tubi really sings when you hit about 3800+ RPMs).

LOL Horsefly - That looks like a big Gummi bear!

Yeah, the players run looked like fun - We went up to Long Beach to say hello to the guys before they went to Catalina - The 456 looked like a champ!

The tires looks perfect. I can't see cracking anywhere.... They do feel a bit hard though. I am a bit afraid to take it on anykind of a serious drive until I know for sure.

I'll probably get a Tubi sometime in the next few months - Augustine said Bruce's TR just sounds incredible with it. :)

  14. 512TR all the way even though I like HRE wheels I dont particularly care for them on Ferrari they look great on the Murci,Vanquish,SL55 etc..

Your cut and paste doesn't do justice to the HRE wheels. If you get them, you will notice a dramatic increase in the positive reaction to the look of your car. That being said, the biggest advantage to going aftermarket is the plus sizing. You can go to a 285 or 295/30R18 on rear, and 235 or 245/40R18 on front. You will notice definite improvement in handling, at the sacrafice of some comfort hitting potholes and steps on highway. Three piece wheels are nice in that you can change the outer rim if you curb it, or hit a pothole and bend a rim, for much less than the price of new wheel.

I 'called around' when I was trying to get pricing for them. Note that these values are of a few months ago, so they might be slightly different. I will PM you the info. Maybe we can group buy and get a discount?

It's a tough call between the Speedlines and the 512TR's. If you find the right deal on either set I don't think you will go wrong.

    :)

I still think we should find a way to mount the F40 wheels :) :)
