I think Tim and I are cool, Paul. Reading this thread from the beginning puts you at risk of becoming dumber for your effort. Going forward, posting cars up for sale and the prices they sell at is more than a worthwhile endeavor. @vincenzo gave it a go in another thread, but that didn't last eight hours. lol
TR has always been a divisive car. More than any other Ferrari in my experience people love it or hate it. And the ones that hate it seem to get great pleasure in hating it. It never fails that when we take ours to a large Ferrari event a few will always go out of their way to complement me on its condition then proceed to tell me how much they don't like the model. It was also built in large numbers. The expense to service should not be ignored. And by that I mean its reputation. People like Mike Sheehan and some others seem to take great delight in trashing the car for its service expenses embellishing all the way and a great many shops are very happy to help the car live up to that reputation. Also technology saw to it that very shortly after it was built there were huge advances that made cars built just a little after it have large increases in performance. The TR wasn't that much faster than a Daytona built 2 generations earlier and dating as much as 20 years earlier. 20 years after the TR we had the Enzo.
Oh, I agree. I used to work on Griffey Jr.s 512TR. Bought because it was his ex car and it was not a pretty sight.
You beat me to it, Ricky. I have a record of ZFFSG17A1H0070385 selling at Barrett Jackson at the peak back in August 2016 for $189,200. https://www.barrett-jackson.com/Events/Event/Details/1987-FERRARI-TESTAROSSA--194397
Sign me up. MC Hammer was a customer too. I really liked him personally but you should have seen what was left of his TR after his peeps were done with it.
The first 575M that I checked out was formerly owned by Axl Rose. I had seen it parked with skanks posing on all over Las Vegas Boulevard for a year. I passed.
Looked nice; I was in the crowd, but not looking for a white one. Loved the White / White though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thanks for the kind words. Pretty amazing, one rough car at a low price and that's the new market. Hey, even a potential buyer said that he would have to reassess his purchase cap. Well, if you want to buy a cheap Testarossa at 60k ish...be my guest. It'll be the most expensive Testarossa you'll end up buying. Anyone in the Ferrari and Lamborghini world....yes, I said "Lamborghini" lol will know that rough and deferred maintenance cars will eat your pocket book alive. For some reason, that's just ignored on this thread. If you don't want to believe that...future experience will teach you. I'll use myself as an example. I have owned my Testarossa for 16 years and enjoy working on it. Concours is my thing from a detail and social perspective. If the market decides that my car is only worth 60k ish...guess what, it won't be sold for that. Most people will just keep the car because 60k isn't doing anything for any of us. Like someone mentioned, the good cars...and I include mine will just stay off the market. Again as has been mentioned, the youngest Testarossa is now 29 years old. This isn't like buying a 458 or Aventador which are a dime a dozen..plenty of choice and are all relatively new. The Testarossa is old...really old and each car has to be assessed individually based on its condition and ownership. This is not a car to be bought sight unseen believing what the dealer or auction website description says. My high 74,000 mile bucket of bolts just won a "Prancing Horse" Award for excellence and "Best Vintage Exotic" at the Festival of Speed concours in St. Petersburg last Sunday. But, you can definitely snag it for 60k...if you wait patiently...50k! ....yeah, no. Here are some photos sent to me by a friend....and what you can't buy for 60k ish lol Shamile Freeze....Miami Vice!
