Great to hear.
Just to more than please the state. Better safe than sorry. I will say it sounds pretty tame at idle but very different driving down the road. Drove my boxer and the black boxer back to back today and its much smoother with the 4V engine, sounds cleaner somehow.
Thanks so much Paul for letting us experience this journey with you. Following this thread (much like the thread on #19271) has been great fun. I have a 512 BB and a 599 GTB. I love my 599 GTB, but there is nothing like starting up and driving a 12 cylinder, carbureted Ferrari.
Its been a fun and challenging project! Ive been road testing and verifying things are good to go before releasing the car. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Some finished product pics. Might do some before and afters too. Driving impressions are that it sounds more refined than my 79 BB but sounds great! Pulls hard WOT but I bet theres more waiting to be unlocked with some crazy cams. I guess if I didn't know whats under the lid out back I couldnt say hey somethings different, what gives??? It sounds like a boxer. I do like how it drives with the aftermarket wheels, its planted and very smooth, drives dead straight and no drama. Mine provides drama, a little more of a handful in the handling department but both feel like boxers. I will be putting the new 512M engine in my boxer thats sitting here eagerly waiting to be installed. That'll be different again with 444HP but rev's like a GSXR1100. Still undecided if I should fab up some manifolds and go TWM or carbs or leave the plenums alone.... Check out the ground clearance. You could really slam this baby! Now Ill be the first to admit that the white sport headers on a boxer engine makes me weak in the knees....okay fine, I collapse at the sight but its hard to argue the pros of the testarossa headers.
