Unusual: Rossa exterior with tan seats but rossa dash and door trims. Quite original if not a little odd. Note the different coloured carpet in the front trunk. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Here's a unique interior...........Black and "burgundy"! Dash, armrests, window sills, console & headliner are black. Carpets, lower door, upper door are burgundy. Seats are black with the center section in a burgundy leather. I have been led to believe it is a Koenig interior....... Exterior is Nero Metallizzato. Please realize that the camera's color balance is not "truly" accurate. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
How is it not original? It matches the interior exactly, other than being a tiny bit faded........ Puzzled ME
None of the years had a rectangular hole around the master cyl. They had a large round hole with a rubber trim that falls off. Also the seam at the edge of the flap for the battery box cover is in the wrong place. If this section is to show and record what colors and combinations these cars came in it should be noted where possible when we know something shown is not correct. There is nothing wrong with what as been done per se. I just do not want someone to copy it in the belief it is original. It is the concours judge in me. It would also be the first dark color carpeting I have seen that did not have white whiskers in the yarn. That may be possible but I have not seen it before. When new we did have some clients change interior colors or carpeting to liven up the look of the car. I suspect that is what happened here.
Brian is 100% right. That battery access flap actually looks excellent. Ferrari should have done that to make access much tidier to the battery. Okay the trimmer may not have got it right around the brake master area, but looks like they did a nice job. Makes you wonder if the same trimmer redid the central section of the seats.
I'm very keen to see any pictures that you guys may have on file of a Testarossa in FER 700/C Grigio Metallizzato or FER 305/C Rosso Metallizzato I wonder if the Metalic Grey was Jeff's car or if it is darker like a Titanio or SIlverstone?
Hit up moderators or Rob - they should be able to help on updating the pics with color names next to them.
Here's my old TR, Grigio Metallizato with Tan interior.....very striking combo.... Image Unavailable, Please Login
To follow up on Kerry's car, since there is a very strong possibility that his car has a "Koenig" style interior...would that account for the slight difference in the trunk carpet configuration? Either way it must be a special order job...
I want to have sex with this car......no, not sex in it, I want to have sex with this car! This TR is absolutely stunning! Sorry to those that know me that have to deal with the visual........ Tetanus shot needed Me
Here's some Nero Metallizato (901/C) and Crema to make you go "Yum". Standing guard for kerrywittig ME Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Wanted to share with you a visual color set I made out of pictures found on the web, but I can't see how to embed images from eg imagebeam/imagevenue directly in my post (as opposed to attaching the pictures after the text). Any idea ? It's usually some text like this, with () replaced with []. (URL=http://img107.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=47789_IMG_0679_122_376lo.jpg)(IMG)http://img107.imagevenue.com/loc376/th_47789_IMG_0679_122_376lo.jpg(/IMG)(/URL)
I finally found a picture of a champagne colored car, but I am still puzzled with the Rosso Metallizato. I think a picture I have shows a "standard" rosso corsa car next to another one, which would be rosso metallizato. Though, I have no picture of a rosso metallizato car standing alone. Anybody ?
Resurrecting an old thread so I dont have to start a new one. Im in the process of reproducing a window sticker for a '88 TR in FER 101/C Argento Metallizzato for an owner but I am not sure if metallic paint was additional or not on TRs and if so what up-charge was it. I know metallic paint was an up-charge on 308s (not sure 328) but this may not mean much. All the TR window sticker copies I have from around this time are non-metallic paint cars (red, white, black, etc). Thanks for any assistance. Im sure someone here owns a metallic and can chime in. Chris @StuttgartStudios
Ferrari pricing wasn't always consistent and I'm inclined to believe FNA or the the individual dealer established/added the upcharge pricing vs. Maranello. My opinion is the charge likely varied by dealer, by year, and by demand. At any rate, I have two examples to share. The first is Rick's former TR shown in post #66 above--it's a 1986 model, painted in Nero Metallizato (901/C) and his window sticker shows a $910.00 price for the metallic paint. Notice that the price was typed onto the window sticker after it was printed on a dot-matrix printer. I think FNA generated the window stickers so this may have been added by the dealer once the car & sticker arrived. I saw that car in person a few years ago...absolutely stunning. The other example is of a 1988 sticker I found on the inter webs a few years ago and and it shows N/C (no charge) for the metallic paint. Hard to tell by the photo but that line looks to have been added to the window sticker before it was printed. So two examples with two different methods and two prices. Rifledriver can hopefully confirm/deny the above as I am no expert--he's judged for many years and worked at a dealership when the TRs were produced. I too reproduced a window sticker for my car for display at car shows but won't attempt to pass it off as original when it's time to sell--I hope your customer has the same integrity. At any rate, good luck with your project! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Very good information. Thanks for this. Anything additional will be most helpful from the community. Yep I already noticed some pricing discrepancy in 1988. For instance the car you posted here is $134K Base, but many others were $126.6K which seemed more common. I got a bit lucky in that I have a '88 on file sold from the same dealership of the current car I am putting together so I'll use that base price. My customers are respectful of its non-originality, but I have a discreet reproduction notation on all stickers to ensure it.
Would any of you guys be willing to reproduce a window sticker for me? I’d happily compensate you. Send me a PM. I’d want it to illustrate that it’s a reproduction, no point in having people start forging these
