Anyone ever got nhtsa or EPA approval to do this? How difficult is this process?

My plan involves temporarily importing a lotus elise s1 for track use/"research" purposes. Transiting to and from the track in the car etc. They dont quite meet the 25 year rule yet but I could keep it in canada, I'm just trying to avoid this for now.

This would be a yearly endeavor as I understand the rules right now.

I have some resources I could reach out to but want to see if there is anyone that has done this here beforehand.

Not sure if this is the correct contact (or if he is still employed by the EPA) - [email protected].

I imported a couple of Maserati GT4 race cars about 5 years ago and he was the contact Maserati gave to me.
