    Hi,

I was just able to sort through the pictures of the event. Over 450 cars came for the one day event in the raceway. A lot of guys brought out their best cars and did their utmost to raise money for the earthquake victims. We had a follow-up event which I will cover soon. Hope you enjoy the pictures.

    Regards,

    Ramin

    Hi,

The Gullwing and the Pagoda's were just a portion of the 130 Mercedes Benz's that showed up. There was a broad array of cars that came out. This Bricklin and Skyliner attarcted big crowds. By the way, all pictures are courtesy of Cafe Racer Keyvan Moradi.

    Hi,

Speaking of Caddy's this 58 Caddy is still wearing its original paint. The Seville you see was manufactured in 1982 from the remaining CKD kits left over from the former GM Iran joint venture. GM Iran not only assembled the Seville, but also the Chevrolet Nova and Buick Skylark. Before that, they manufactured the Opel Rekord under the name "Chevrolet Iran".

    Enjoy,

    Ramin

    Hi,

Three vintage Mercedes under the poster of the event we designed. The Ponton and later on the fin tail were the main stay of long distance travel between cities in Iran. The Ponton in the middle is still wearing its taxi colors. Beleive it or not, Pontons and fin tails remained in service until the early 80's.

    Salam Salar,

The Gullwing is owned by one of the coolest guys I have ever met. Though he takes immaculate care of his cars he has no qualms about driving them.

I had heard rumours about a Brickiln in Tehran, but never got round to following up. Then one day he just showed up at one of our events. I haven't had the opportunity to speak ask about the history of his car yet. As it is Ford Powered and has an automatic, it is a 75 or 76 model. The first year (74) were all AMC powered.

    Here is an immaculate 190Sl.

Been following this thread for a while and I love it. I especially like the fact that it is not overly exotic cars. Just a bunch of old school carguys having fun with real "drivers".

    I feel like i'd fit in perfectly with my 73 W116 :D

However, I am too far away :(

    Hi,

You would fit in great. Our Mercedes Club is putting together an event to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the W116. The whole point of our Classic Car Committee and the Cafe RAcers events are to give owners an excuse to take the covers off and provide an enviroment to actually enjoy their cars, whether its a Gullwing or a Hillman Avenger. Here are a couple 116's that showed up at our event.

    Regards,

    Ramin
