    Hi all,

I spent about two hours in a Fiorano optioned 296 this past Saturday, thoroughly enjoyed my time! The car is great fun to drive, but I really struggled to consistently access the steering wheel controls for the dash display.

Those of you with the car, what am I missing with my right thumb? It appeared that sometimes I was pressing too slowly, sometimes too rapidly. It seemed to go to 'sleep' and cause it to need waking up to be responsive.

Also on climate control, should the AC come on when you lower the temp and have fan speed on? I saw there was a steering wheel mode for cool and heat but can't imagine you need to do that to turn the AC on. I wasn't terribly comfortable as I never got the air to come on!

All of this to say I'll be in one for some fund raising rides in a few weeks. I have done this with other models but this one is just a tad different. I want to maximize the experience for the donors and I could use your collective advice!

    Thanks all!

You need to wake up the right button pad. So double tap. That awakens the button. Scroll up and down as required.

The AC is a bit funny. I use the touch pad to the left of the steering wheel. Just set your temperature up or down. Use the fan speed to control the air speed and choose which direction of air you want.

The quick control for climate on the wheel seems to give you fast heating or cooling.

One tip. If in apple car play. Press and hold the home button to get back to the Home Screen.

I find the system a little slow and clunky. Especially when apple car play is active.

I tend to use the back of the steering wheel for volume control (left side) and back of steering wheel right side for the track up/down. Haven’t even tried the radio yet so can’t answer that one.

I have carbon seats so cannot comment on the electric seat adjustment or heated seats set up.

Enjoy the car. It’s epic !

That explains the wake up delay, thank you! I agree it feels a bit slow, but I think it is just very accurate. Compared to my own TR, ALL of this is high tech. I generally do track days with owners, this is a bit of a change for me and I gather someone might ask a question more about AC than track limits.

This is very helpful, thank you for taking the time to share. I promise to pay it forward to other Tifosi! Grazie mille

To get the proper gesture that the engineers were trying to convey when they designed the capacitive touch pad, put the palm of your hand flat over it, where the back of your hand and fingers are facing you. Then curl your index finger, followed by your ring finger, followed by your pinky, then tuck in your thumb.

How do I apply for your job?

No one cares about me - I gotta pay for all my own cars, all the junk that goes with it, track time, etc.....

Worse yet, I'm now paying to rent cars for remote tracking, even when I have worthy ones sitting at home.

NCM was great, btw. See you at WGI later in May.

My job? Just spend 20 years of your life at insane speeds with other people driving, that seems to be my ticket to the fast lane. There are a few bumps along the way but I feel blessed to do what I do!

Did you see your car was the first in the gallery index? You are flat moving!

Amanda is driving at WGI, she will be in my 2000 World Challenge car, let's plan to take that out one session just you and me?

It all depends on what mood the car is in that day.

I really hope that haptic steering wheel goes away in the future. I get what Manzoni is attempting to do with minimal design, but that wheel is a PITA. If you have to ask how to use it, it's designed wrong.

And you nailed it! It’s not intuitive at all. Why it has to be so confusing is beyond me.

I drove the F12 to work for the first time in 6 days, since I got the 296 I had been taking that every day. Starting and driving the F12 is so simple and comfortable in comparison.

I've also had a flurry of gremlins in break-in... about 20% of the time I get a sensor or camera failure error on start up. Or once the camera refused to turn off and the wheel touchpad didnt work at all (driving 45+ with the front camera on is disorienting). The auto-unlock/proximity feature of the keys stopped working (they texted me how to reset it), day 2 I got a "Hybrid System Failure Go To Dealer" error on the screen. I didn't - turning it off and on made it go away.

Oh and I want to turn off the alarm honking when you get out of the car with the key while it's running. Four blasts?! Seriously? First time I was in the garage and forgot my soda, and woke everyone up.

Posts like this are helpful in quelling my excitement for the car to come while I wait for it to go into production. LOLOL
