    So, I test drove a 360 challenge (on a race track) that's currently for sale.

    I'm having a spec miata built right now as that's what I've been honing my track skills with, and a Ferrari Challenge car to also use on the track was NOT in my plans.

    However

    I became aware of one that happened to be at my home track, while I was there and...you know. Anyway - no big shocker - I loved it.

    My plan is to get the spec miata done and use that for my main thrashing and training, but - I'm in love with the idea of having the challenge car too. I've got garage space at the track and no need to trailer etc. so I'll be there a lot.

    Anyone want to talk me into or out of it? From anecdotal evidence, they appear to be robust and reliable (in general). Parts availability is an issue I guess, BUT a couple of people who own them have spoken to me about that and they've not had issues.

    Anyway - any big pros/cons to consider ?

    Wont talk you out of it. The 360 Challenge is one the best deals in the Ferrari world.

    Well - I mean - I'm likely about to make an offer on it :) So...I'm not sure I'm in a hurry to add more bidders. They're checking out an ABS issue that popped up on the test drive. Waiting to hear. If I don't end up getting it, I'll message you.

    Reasons to not buy:
    1) too many attractive women throwing themselves at you... nobody needs that temptation
    2) the sound will corrupt your ears in to thinking other cars sound awful.
    3) other cars will likely try harder to keep up with you on track due to the attractive nature of the car, making races harder to win.

    Obviously heavily biased, but I believe every owner of a Ferrari street car should also own a challenge car of any vintage. Race cars are what Ferrari DNA is made of! The experience of driving any of them at speed on a track is not only rewarding, it helps you connect to your street car and highlights the differences. With the Cavallino a classic Cup and other similar series allowing entry of any challenge from 348-458 there is only going to be more events to use our now “historic” race cars too. Oh yeah, they also look amazing and sound incredible!

    Money. Lots of money. Lots and lots of money. I had the chance to buy Mandy Williams F360ch for $100k.

    The story was it was the only 360 challenge that had never been wrecked. FOH had completely rebuilt it. I passed.

    That said. Setup is critical on the 360 challenge cars. Find somebody who knows what they are doing.

    So it actually had been wrecked and rebuilt? I used to own it and it showed no signs of any damage.

    Congrats! Welcome to a fun club! We have run, supported and sold several C cars out of our shop. Currently we are running a 360 and a 430 (430 is my personal track car). A few thoughts. If they have any records work hard to get them. Mainly around engine modifications. Knowing if the engine is stock or modified is very helpful for maintenance and diagnostics. We only run Pirelli DH16 slicks. The original size for the rear are no longer available so you will need to slightly oversize. We sometimes get a minor, minor rub but that is the best option. Rub is more superficial. We just got back from 3 day at Roebling Road with 3 other 430's and some of them were running Hoosiers. I have not tried them.

    Have fun and come join us for a track day sometime! We also go to Watkins once a year for the Ferrari NE Club. Bob, their regional track director for a few decades :), moved to Charlotte and is a client and neighbor here.

    Drive safe, but fast!
