    Hello,

First F-car is due for b-day.

Never driven an F myself, was only passenger in an F50 more than 10yrs ago. Did a lot of racing and track days like years ago. Next year I will probably only do like 5 Track days and some Autobahn Hispeed driving and hopefully some cruising along the countryside.

The more I read and watch about 458 and f12, the more I want the f12. Only possible downside could be the bodyroll and maybe I would upgrade to wider front tires.

Is there a common suspension upgrade to decrease bodyroll?

    Anything else for Track use?

I would buy a 2012/13. Have not yet read about important improvements in any model year. Is that right?

Although used 458 is 100k less than f12 I am afraid of the 458 Not delivering awesome power. My daily Driver is 500+ hp and massive torque. So the 458 will probably be nice But Not a whole new dimension.

    TIA

I'm a racer and have several dedicated race cars
I've driven my 458 on track and it's trrrific
For the occasional track day Id leave it stock
    It's a Ferrari afterall
If it were a 911 Id say go for it but leave the F car stock

458 is more track oriented than f12. HGTE on F599 also features firmer suspension for better track performance.

BTW, same year GT3 is faster than 458.

I would try it out with the stock setup and then decide what changes you might like to make. I think for the occasional track day you will be fine. If you want to do many track days in the end you are best off with a dedicated track car. Perhaps something like a 458 Challenge? Maybe F12 for road and 458 C for track? That would be an ideal Ferrari combination :)

have driven an F12 on track and had one for the street; the car is phenomenal.

It's not a natural track animal, though it can fly. It needs to be driven somewhat aggressively, but 740hp hide a lot of sins.

You can probably make it more track-worthy with some Novitec parts and some expert setup adjustments. Reserve a healthy budget for tires and brake pads.

Having said that, the 458 platform (Italia, Speciale, Challenge) is an amazing car on track, for directional changes and braking, the balance is hard to match.

F12 on track is a blast. Most cars with 500+hp are fun on the street and highway, but driving hard on a track is a different element, the 458 really shines.

Fist up, you did not state what +500HP car you drive or where in Europe you live. Also, in the eastern US a used 458 is more like $200K less than a used F12.

That aside, the F12 will have almost zero body roll if lowered properly. You will also want to space your wheels to increase track. Novitec suspension products are high quality and your dealer will be happy to do the install. Lower the car up 30-40mm and widen 10-20mm in the front and 30mm or so in the back. Keep all the factory parts as you can return to stock at any time with no loss of authenticity. This will cost several thousand plus dealer labor. You may also want to look at track only tires.

The dealer will do a four corner weight and alignment to ensure bias is correct. All other parameters can be tweaked for track use as well. The car will take very well to these adjustments. Keep in mind that it is a ballistic machine but also high luxury. You do not want to have a rough ride for street use. Made sure you can still put the car in bumpy road mode and have a smooth supple ride. Mine is setup this way and it is a dream to drive but I do not track the car. Good luck.

Thanks a lot, this really helps.

Want to buy the F12 before April and will track it in May without mods and see how I can handle the car.

Do not want a dedicated track car, too much possession decreases happiness and freedom ;)
