A yellow F12 tdf is among the eleven supercars confiscated by Swiss authorities this week Monday at Geneva Airport, one of eleven supercars that Theodore (Teodorin) Nguema Obiang, 47 year old son of an African dictator (Equitorial Guinea), tried to export but the Swiss Police was faster. Apparently there are money laundering and corruption issues. Among the cars confiscated are also a yellow Enzo, a yellow La Ferrari, a black 599 GTB, a red Aston Martin One-77, a blue Bugatti Veyron, a Lamborghini Veneno Roadster, a yellow McLaren P1 and a blue Koenigsegg Agera One:1. These cars will most probably remain in a Swiss police warehouse, probably for at least ten or more years, until all the law suits are finally settled, up to the highest court in Switzerland (Federal Court in Lausanne). If the owner doesn't get them back or doesn't want them back they might then be auctioned. But this case is going to take several years for sure.

I didn't understand something. Where is the bad thing for trying to export the cars out of Swiss?

    Please enlighten me.

    Thank you in advance.

Thanks Marcel, will the cars just sit there, get dusty and go unmaintained for a long period of time?

Do not forget the dude had already a crazy batch of cars seized in Paris, including a GTO and an Enzo

11 Supercars of Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo Seized by French Police - GTspirit

In the french case the cars have all been auctionned.

If you combine the two seizures, you obtain one of craziest car collection of the world.

I don't know, but my guess would be that the guy has some hot money in his Swiss bank account which he can't legally move abroad, so he buys high value, mobile assets. He exports these assets to wherever and then turns them back into cash.

The owner is the son of an infamous African dictator, spending his time living the most extraordinary lifestyle possible while the people live in complete misery.

He is under many procedures of "Ill gotten gains" in France, USA and now Switzerland.

USA seized his malibu mansion and another GTO in california.

Beside being a Dictator son, the guy is a big Ferrari enthusiast for sure !!

The owner is being accused by Swiss authorities (and other countries as well) for money laundering, corruption and a number of other serious criminal points. That's why part of "his property" has been confiscated.

I'm still fascinated to know if he was allocated any of these cars or whether he bought them on the used market?

Sadly, it's repeated all over Africa. I was in Nigeria on business a few weeks back and the scale of the poverty is shocking, while there's a small fleet of Range Rovers at Lagos airport picking up their owners after a shopping trip to London. I had the sense the problem is so huge there's no point - if your fingers are in the "right pies'' - to worry about anyone other than yourself/family. So you take what you can. Lord knows what will happen when Africa doubles in population by 2050, adding another billion people. Anyway, the cars look nice and should raise a few dollars, well done the Swiss.

Ukraine is the same. Drive around the parliament and all you see are G Wagen, RRovers, and S Class. Yet the avg salary is less than $1000/mo.

    Interesting read...

20 Minuten - So tickt der Diktatoren-Sohn mit den Luxusautos - News

Obiang tried to ship the cars with a freightplane but Swiss police/customs were quicker and confiscated his cars. Sad that we still have lot of those corrupt & brutal dictators among us. Such a rich country (Aquatorialguinea) and still most of the 850.000 inhabitants live a poor life because of people like Obiang.

Also sad to see that Obiang is being delivered a LaFerrari while lots of other enthusiasts are being denied. Is a man slaughtering criminal still a valued customer? Don´t think so.
