Does anybody know which very early Ferraris from 1950 or 1960s are owned by Sultan?

When Mike Sheehan visited quite a long time ago there was only one Enzo-era Ferrari that he saw. He mentioned it in the article he wrote a number of years later about the state of the collection during his visit.

As far as I know, from some research online, the Royal Family owned mostly F-cars from the Eighties and the Nineties. To my knowledge, Marcel's post about the 275 GTS Spider might be correct.

You are correct. I remember seeing somewhere online an old picture from a workshop in Brunei with a 365 GT4 BB and a Lamborghini next to it. My memories are fading. I am trying to find it again but without success. Hope to find it soon.

I intended to add Sheehan's quote to my previous post:

    "The token Enzo-era Ferrari was a RHD 275 GTS, s/n 7795."

    That was May 2002.

Another thing to keep mind was that the cars owned by the Brunei Royal Family weren't all kept in Brunei. They had homes and cars littered in places all over the world. That enormous 65k sq-ft house in Las Vegas on 11 acres that was owned by LV Eric was originally built for them and you can be sure the garage with parking for some 50 cars didn't go unused.

Shame on me for not remembering that. In fact I read that article multiple times. Mea culpa. Gotta find that picture of the 356 GT4 BB in the workshop. I'm on a mission! :)

Top gear magazine about 8 years ago did a great feature on prince Jefferies and the sultans car collections. Prince Jefferies car collection which dwarfed the sultans car collection has now been absorbed into the sultans collection following him being kicked out of the country for "borrowing" something like 3£billion of the country's money.

An old friend of mine worked for prince Jeffery managing over 3000 cars held in multi storey car parks. He ran a team of ex UK gurkas who cleaned and serviced all the cars and he was able to take pretty much any car home. Any when the prince needed a car he was given an unlimited speed police escort across the country to the prince.

The little known fact was that in the 80/90's without any contracts prince jeffery pretty much kept half the UK car industry afloat, all via an agent based in London. He would order dozens of insane cars Estates, bird of prey flying range rovers, 6 wheel, 8 wheels, convertible rolls Royce extended limos, Bentleys with 6 doors (I've seen the pictures).....They would go to a car show and his representative would see a car, a prototype car, and say Ill have 6, they would say its not available, he would get out the chequebook say how much and they would make a call. I know this happened with the Bentley rapier and he bought 6 and £3.5m a piece.

Ferrari used to court them. They would turn up with a truck shipped in with hundreds of leathers, with designers on tap and design cars on the fly and order dozens with the craziest mods ever.

Most of which have never been seen.

My mates car of choice was the 456 estate as it was practical and fast , when he wasn't driving one of the F40's.

Then overnight it was over. Prince Jeffery was caught embezzling and in the middle of the night he and his family were woken put on a plane, along with all his other staff kicked out of the country.

Now the sultan has that collection too.

Very vague, erratic and superficial article with wrong information and misleading photos. Please check the sources before posting here.
No hard feelings but I just don't want this thread to become a junkyard... ;)

    Hello everyone,

i am Bernhard from Germany and this is my first post on ferrarichat. I do not own a Ferrari but I am very interested in the car collection of the Royal Family of Brunei. In particular i am very interested in the Mercedes and AMG cars of the collection like the W/C140 conversions.

Last month a new picture of one of the rare S140 S73 T AMG appeared on instagram (coyright @dani_irfan). It is the second picture of the grey estate, this time in front of the Mercedes-Benz dealership (Jati Transport) in Brunei and with a clear view on the badges. On the left it says "///Brunei" badge and on the left "///555".

    Hello,

thank you for keeping this topic alive. I think we met us on instagram a few months ago but i couldn't find the picture anymore.

I am not sure if this picture was uploaded here before but i guess it is one of their garages. I found it on the website (or blog) of the Brunei Mercedes Owners Group (BMOG) but unfortunately nobody knows who took it. Again no Ferrari on it but at least 3 very interesting other cars. A silver 300SL AMG/HWA Gullwing, a Black 300SL Roadster maybe also modified by AMG/HWA and the third one should be a Bentley Grand Prix!
Another interesting fact. Compared to other pictures of the garages here are a lot of free parking spaces.
