I have a 360 with stock cats and Tubi - sounds great.

Of course I'm always worried about the cat failure on the car (28-29K miles now) and was thinking to get better sound + reduce the risk of cat failure by going to straight pipes...

As such does anybody have a link to comparison of straight pipes vs cats both with Tubi exhaust?

Any thoughts on how much louder it would get? Also I understand that I will get the dreaded CEL unless through some miracle I can run longer spacer O2 sensors or something of that nature?

    Thank you all.

I assume the cat failure you refer to is the header cats? If so aftermarket or euro spec headers don't have the cats in them. My old 360 was euro spec (no pre cats) with tubi and sounded great, not too loud.

Sound is relative. I have no pre cats test pipes and Tubi . It sounds fabulous but to some its too loud ...

My car is Euro 2002 and it has no precats, just regular cats and Tubi...
After 1 month I replaced Tubi with stock exhaust...
The Tubi was too loud for my taste...
The most annoying part was when idling or stuck in traffic..
Because it has no valves, the Tubi after a while would become annoying, and the only thing you can do at traffic light is to switch the engine off...
It made little difference with windows up or down, as the noise resonates...
Everyone around me loved the sound and gave me thumbs up, but I hated it after a while...
So make sure you find a car and drive for 30 minutes before you decide..
Forget about Youtube videos, as it is impossible to understand how it sounds from inside..
Also if you try it for just 5 minutes, you won't get the whole picture..
Ferrari designed the exhaust with valves for a good reason...

He's right . With straight pipes and a Tubi my car is way louder and it doesn't bother me. Valves are for Neighbors not true enthusiast. 5 a.m. Sunday morning when I leave to play hockey my neighbors wish I had to valves

I have decat + Tubi and I don't find it too loud, far from it. One can cruise 70-80mph (140-150kph) on highways and discuss with co-driver without any problems. No droning, not even bit. Plus it sounds "race" loud, not "fart cannon" type of trashy loud.

It's loud outside, not in the cabin. About only negative thing is occasional fuel smell which comes when you delete cats. But I like it, more motorsport feeling.

Before I bought my car I test drove many 360's with different setups; total OEM, cats + Capristo level 3 and cats + Tubi. This decat + Tubi of mine sounds by far the best of those while "normal revs". Tbh Capristo produced unique really high pitch F1 typish sound when WoT and upper rev range (+6k). But until those revs, I liked this system best.

Plus decat gives you occasional flames and pops'n bangs (when really warm). I love it!

Going with a Testpipe/Catbypass Pipe/Cat delete pipe will certainly make the car louder, and also make the tone more aggressive. Often also providing the occasional back fires, pops, gurgles, and other assorted racecar noise as billy.gif mentioned above.

The dreaded CEL is definitely something to consider, but this can often be remedied with an o2 sensor spacer, or worse case scenario - and ECU tune. Many companies also now make a "mini cat" o2 sensor spacer that is in essence a small catalytic converter between the o2 sensor and the exhaust bung to prevent a CEL light.

Yea, even while I'm having the o2 sensor spacers / "mini cats" from Fabspeed ( Universal O2 Spacer with Catalytic Converter - Fabspeed Motorsport ) the ECU gives a "pending code" meaning no CE light, but if you do a OBD -port scan you'll see the code. "Pending" state means that ECU thinks something isn't right but its not enough wrong to lit the CE light / error message.

P0139 o2 Sensor Circuit Slow Response (Bank 1 Sensor 2).

Only once over the 5 000 km (ca. 3 100 miles) which I've owned it, the car has triggered a CE light about o2 Sensor. And this was after "One Mile Race" at the airport.

Billy - thats the same story for most F430 customers. If you want to kick the CEL for good, an ECU tune should get you there.

I just purchased a 99 with oem headers (no pre cats), fabspeed sport cats and a tubi and I think the sound is pretty perfect. The only thing I wasn't a fan of was cruising around 70mph for long distances, as soon as the car hits 80mph you don't hear much sound and can carry on a conversation or hear the radio.
