Hi all; I posted this on the Technical, but nobody replied. My handbrake has got incredibly sticky, it is so bad I had to put a latex glove on it. as it is blue, it clashes badly with the rest of the interior. so I need to remove the handle and somehow remove the sticky layer. Now, how do I remove the handle? I looked but there are no screws or any other visible fasteners? Thank you for your help!
The brake handle (Grip) is just a friction fit. Just twist and pull forward and it will come off. If you would like us to refinish, please send me an email: dave.lelonek@**********.com My Best, Dave Image Unavailable, Please Login
mine was more stubborn... so wrapped with mf towel and gently locked vise grip on....then slapped it off with hammer by hitting vise grips in line went w cf replacement from valence Image Unavailable, Please Login
Mine took a rediculous amount of effort to come off. Here are a couple of past threads with ideas. If you are going to have it professionally refinished, Dave at Sticky RX would be my choice. Will note that I am having no issues with the repair I did. Preparation is the important part. Since we are on handbrakes, what is with the 550 and other seat between door brakes? I can't use it with the door closed and it knocks off the plastic seat adjustor covers when I do. Is it just me ( as my wife says, it all about me, but....)?
this is what i did and to get a temp fix while waiting on the CF handle i used black electric tape to wrap in up one continuous wrap and that worked great .. When i got the CF handle it was a bear to get the old handle off but with effort it was done and looks just like this
